Nifedipine Dose For Hypertension

I was prescribed Amlodipine 2.5 mg for my BP,2 months ago.As my BP was not controlled gradually my dose was increased to 7.5 mg and still it is 160 to165 systolic and 85 to92 diastolic and sometimes it is around 150/80.
Can I try Nifedipine instead of Amlodipine.If so what is the dose to start with?

Have you discussed it with your doctor?

Both the Amlodipine and Nifedipine are calcium channel blockers, so if one hasn't been working for you, the other might not, either.

In this case, you should consult your doctor, because you might be better of trying a different class of medication, such as a beta blocker.
