New White Watson 853 10/325 Problem - What Is Going On!? (Page 14)
UpdatedHello all,
I am a longtime chronic pain sufferer. I have taken opiates for pain for over 10 years. I recently got a prescription filled (from a well known pharmacy chain in the U.S.) and I was given these new Watson 853 white (not yellow) hydro 10/325 pills. I wanted to ask the forum here if any of you have had the same experience with them as I have. I know there are some very smart people with advanced chemistry knowledge here that may have delved deeper into whats going on with these things. They are ineffective for me. I've taken hydrocodone 10/325 for 10+ years and have never ever had a problem with pills being ineffective but that is the case with these pills. I've had about every brand you can think of and never an issue. Ever. I thought nothing of the color change when I got the pills home from the pharmacy... I've had the yellow Watson 853's before and figured they just changed the coloring. I've seen people complain before about differences in brands before, but I've never experienced anything like that.... Mallies, Watson, Qualitst... all the same to me. I didn't start looking around for answers until I noticed these pills were not working well at all. Something is 100% wrong.
Based on some initial research I do see that they have taken the yellow dye out but there are other reports from people with the same issues as I see. Obviously you just don't know how reputable some of these reports are... I've seen posts talk about pharmacists telling the patient that the pills now are structured to release hydrocodone slower (even though its an IR pill... what?)... that Actavis/Watson employees have claimed there could be "kinetic imbalances" in their formulation when upset customers have called them... etc.
The only truth I know is that there is something amiss with these things. Any response would be appreciated from you guys.... experiences/info/links to other similar reports, etc. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever run into and it just doesn't make much sense to me at the moment with whats going on....and the implications this could have if these pills have been truly altered by the manufacturer in some way.
I know it doesn't mean much to just say it on an internet forum, but I'm not the type to cry wolf over something like this. I realize it could be a bad batch I've received, but it looks initially like the problem is more widespread.
TIA for any responses to this thread! I came here because I believe this site has people that have the intelligence/knowledge to get to the bottom of it. Again, any info at all in relation to this would be appreciated greatly.
I really have had no problems at all with the WATSON 853. They work all the same to me. I switched to 7.5/325 perks & they seem just as strong to me as the Hydrocodone 10/325. I've been dealing with chronic pain such as DGD and 3 herniated discs & t rheumatoid arthritis at the grand ago of30. They all give me relief. Hope this helps.
I too have the same trouble. They don't work for me either and I am so frustrated I could scream.
I completely agree. The people that really need these meds get treated kind of rudely at the pharmacy . I got into a terrible car accident 2 years ago and suffer with chronic pain now. So I have to take them but i have noticed certain brands of the meds so not work as well. They all should work the same.
I believe also that the prescriptions and the manufacturers these days are very different. I also have been suffering from pain and didn't pay attention 10 years ago about the manufacturer because the pain was always taken care of by my prescription. But now they seem to be either less effective or too cheap the way there making them now. I don't know, all I know is that there not helping my pain, and are making me dizzy.
I agree with u totally, I have
Been taking these for almost 20 years and I have always loved the yellows. It sucks today. . Being someone whose been prescribed opiates for over half their life.
I beg to differ w u. I was recently prescribed the old 10/525's. Yet I have yet to find a better 10mg hydro that works As
Well
It's been my experience that since the changes to this product , they are not as effective. There are even some side effects that I experience that are new for me even though I've been taking the this medication for quite some time
You're correct serious concern! It's happened with all narcotic analgesics not just hydrocodone. We the suffering Americans are the latest victim of our governments failed war on drugs
I go to an apothecary and I get my yellows there. Also, much cheaper. About 1/3 the cost!
Ellie, it is doubtful your were prescribed any prescription drug that contains more than 325 mg of tylenol. If you were, you weren't able to get it filled. Manufacturers stopped making them in 2014.
Ellie, I'm not sure what you were prescribed but I rather doubt it was hydrocodone with 500mg (it was never 525mg). Your doctor would have had to have been living under a rock to not know that major changes invoked by the DEA and DPS in Oct 2014. No narcotic medicine can contain Tylenol over 325mg. Even if in some bizarre instance your doc did write you for the original 10/500 there is not a single pharmacy in the US that can fill it because once the law to reduce the amount of Tylenol was enacted the manufacturers stopped making them. Any pharmacy that still had some in stock was prohibited from selling them. I was told by my doc that the DEA ordered them to be destroyed.
These new formulated watson hydrocodone are awful. Doesn't work on pain and causes inflammation. Last 3 rx have been different each time. One rx made me very sleepy, and didn't work as well, the last 2 or 3rx keep getting weaker. I think they are buying cargil byproducts to use for filler like mallinckrodt did. I'm gluten intolerant. That would explain all the extra pain and body wide inflammation I am receiving from taking these hydrocodone. unfortunately it's the only pain medication my body responds to well. But now I don't know what to do. The pharmacies only sell mallinckrodt and watson in my town. Why did they have to change the formula. It was bad enough when they took the dye out a few years ago. That was sure good for absorption. Used to give me a little boost in energy because it worked that we'll. Now though, I don't think these would work even if I tried to take 2 at the same time. I wouldn't do that. Somebody tell them to stop using gluten byproducts! Start a petition.
Make me sleep a lot. I do not like feeling drugged up like this. Something is definitely wrong her. I to have been taking off and on since 1996. Three back surgeries, and hip. Never wanted to sleep like this.
Well Its Sad That People Abuse Something that can Help Them. But For A Multi Billion Dollar Company to Make You Pay For Something To Help You To Relieve Pain So You Can Function As A Human Being.. And It Does Nothing But Aggravate Your Day Is Really A Crime Against Humanity.. And Should Be Made Accountable For There Greedy Actions...!! Please Someone Help Us With This Scam.. With The White Oblong New Pain Reliever WATSON 853 Its Truly A Placebo Pain In My Life. Thanx Everyone For Noticing This Problem I Thought It Was Just Me..
So I'm a cancer patient and have taken pain meds on and off for years. The drug companies/patients were noticing that patients livers were starting to fail, not from the opiates in the medication but the Tylenol/ acetaminophen. So they have cut the Tylenol down in most of the pills. That's why they went from 5/500 to 5/325. If you take the 10mg I think they may have even taken half of the Tylenol. Maybe that's why it's not working as well? Tylenol even though it not the best pain reliever, is still a pain reliever so try taking one Tylenol with it and see if that makes a difference.
Is the white Watson 853 (325/10) extended release? Also I have been having diarrhea for 30 days, ran all stool tests, labs, etc... all negative. Has diarrhea ever been problem with this med?
I heard from my pain management team in Fl before long there will be no hydrcodone, no vicadin, norco, percents. As per DEA. They not going to be making drugs like that for chronic pain
They are going to stronger time released meds to keep people who just pop pills and don't need them out of their hands? Not sure it's true but it's what I was told?
Could someone pls chine in and tell me if The hydrocodone bitartrate has cause diarrhea - or maybe Tyrol even. Would appreciate as this been going on several months . Thks ahead of time
TERRIE, the drug companies are Not going to stop making hydrocodone/acetaminophen combination meds or any other immediate release meds. Many drs have started prescribng extended release pain meds for chronic pain patients because they manage the pain better. There will always be a large market for immediate release pain meds and extended release pain meds.
I have had same problem i think they are not the same and i beleive they are getting everyone off them slowly and people dont even know it. I have been on all different stuff sence 1996 and believe me i know what they do and this isn't it. I wish they could feel what we go through when they do this stuff. But know such luck. Good luck
