New White Watson 853 10/325 Problem - What Is Going On!? (Page 10) (Top voted first)

Updated

Hello all,

I am a longtime chronic pain sufferer. I have taken opiates for pain for over 10 years. I recently got a prescription filled (from a well known pharmacy chain in the U.S.) and I was given these new Watson 853 white (not yellow) hydro 10/325 pills. I wanted to ask the forum here if any of you have had the same experience with them as I have. I know there are some very smart people with advanced chemistry knowledge here that may have delved deeper into whats going on with these things. They are ineffective for me. I've taken hydrocodone 10/325 for 10+ years and have never ever had a problem with pills being ineffective but that is the case with these pills. I've had about every brand you can think of and never an issue. Ever. I thought nothing of the color change when I got the pills home from the pharmacy... I've had the yellow Watson 853's before and figured they just changed the coloring. I've seen people complain before about differences in brands before, but I've never experienced anything like that.... Mallies, Watson, Qualitst... all the same to me. I didn't start looking around for answers until I noticed these pills were not working well at all. Something is 100% wrong.

Based on some initial research I do see that they have taken the yellow dye out but there are other reports from people with the same issues as I see. Obviously you just don't know how reputable some of these reports are... I've seen posts talk about pharmacists telling the patient that the pills now are structured to release hydrocodone slower (even though its an IR pill... what?)... that Actavis/Watson employees have claimed there could be "kinetic imbalances" in their formulation when upset customers have called them... etc.

The only truth I know is that there is something amiss with these things. Any response would be appreciated from you guys.... experiences/info/links to other similar reports, etc. This is the most frustrating thing I have ever run into and it just doesn't make much sense to me at the moment with whats going on....and the implications this could have if these pills have been truly altered by the manufacturer in some way.

I know it doesn't mean much to just say it on an internet forum, but I'm not the type to cry wolf over something like this. I realize it could be a bad batch I've received, but it looks initially like the problem is more widespread.

TIA for any responses to this thread! I came here because I believe this site has people that have the intelligence/knowledge to get to the bottom of it. Again, any info at all in relation to this would be appreciated greatly.

There's no need to be a complete a$$ when speaking to people. Talking down to chronic pain patients will never help them. I'm so glad and so lucky to have a wonderful, caring and compassionate doctor who understands me and lets me express to him how I'm feeling without him judging me. You need to "get used" to speaking compassionately. I'm glad you're not my doctor and I feel for any patients you may have.

Ali , hydrocodone and acetaminophen combination drugs are not time released. If a generic says it contains 10 mg of an active ingredient, it can contain anywhere from 8 mg-12 mg. Fillers and binders vary from one drug to another. Fillers and binders can affect the way a medication is absorbed in your system. All pharmacists have to go by are the ingredients the pharmaceutical company lists.

I am not a lawyer but I have had the same problems as everyone here.I think to start with if you have insuraance we need to contact them file a complaint that we are not getting what the insurance company is paying for.If they have taken hydrcodone out snd putting less in the insurance companys are getting robbed from watson. Its called fraud the insurance companys should of ben notified that watson is putting less hydrocodone in the 10/325s .Another thing we can do is ask your dr for Hydrocodone 7/325 instead I have been on them for years and they work good.Tell your dr about the problems with the 10/325 he may increase the 7s so it is close to the tens as possible.Someone needs to test the watson 853 to see if they are commiting fraud then everyone if proven to be true sue the F--k out of watson. If you are paying for them out of your pockets and watson has not sent you a letter saying the hydrocodone is being cut in the 10/325 then they have commited Fraud.Just a few thought.Oh yes I have been on hydrocodone for over ten years for a number of heath problems.

I did some searching on my own and it does not have any match for white 853 hydro's they got yellow but I did click on 853 white actavis an that showed me some type of ADHD but I thought I'd just see what I could find an it gave me yellow 853 but under white 853 said no match. So yes I think something fishy going on but that's just me trying to help cause I'm in pain around the clock. I'm on high doses of opiates. I'm on er release an ir for breakthrough pain. I been disabled and on opiates since age 24 an I'm 38 now so I know back pain an alot more than that. So I just thought I'd try to help y'all look and its strange it shows no match under white 10/325 853 but shows match for yellow. Hope I helped. I don't see how I did but I tried. Sorry for you and all others that have to deal with these white 853 whatever they are tabs. Hope you all get things straightened out soon so you all can get some type of relief. Thanks, Ken.

I just had my forever Hydrocodone with Ibuprofen, the 10-200 MG tab switched to the 10-325 MG with Tylenol simply because the majority of pharmacies here either won't carry it, nor even order it, or the usual excuse is it'll be about a week, when if you do wait, it's another excuse! Most recently, two of the CVS pharmacies have told me their shipments were stolen within a week of each other! Why is it so much easier to obtain the Tylenol and not the ibuprofen??
However, my CVS immediately filled the tylenol, stating that the ibuprofen had been ordered, yet again. NOW then, the Quali test brand is a joke. It hasn't even touched my pain, not to mention the fact that since I have asthma/COPD, I should not be taking tylenol as it can have severe adverse effect on my breathing. Why are the pharmacies so eager to stock the tylenol instead of ibuprofen which helps with the inflammation?
Next month will ask my Dr. To switch me back to Hydro/Ibuprofen.

I take 7.5/hydrocodone/acetaminophen 325T. I have had them from a different company and I got relief. I was getting 1 a day. I started getting worse, had test done and it show I was worse, hence the pain. I din't like my doctor ,he didn't believe me. I went back to my doctor where I used to live. Here is my problem. He looked at my test and agreed I had to have pain. So now because of the stupid gov. he gave me 1 more a day. For 6 months it was ok. I have been monitoring these pills because half of my pills I get relief and half I get NONE> At first because of what I have I thought maybe I am dying, very sad.6 months ago I poured about 20 pills in my hand. They did not feel right nor look right. The pills that worked were hard to break and they were shinny, the pills that did not work were were pores and I could break them with 1 finger. Called Watson, told them spoke to the QA person and she told me I probably got bad pills.I told her what I thought. I had to have proof before I tell my doctor. Three pharmacist siad after I described the pills that they were bed pills.

queen, most regular drs started referring patients to pain management for Norco when it because s Schedule II last October.

There are no guarantees with the pharmacy manager, but your chances are always better when you deal with someone in authority. I never deal with pharmacy techs, I always deal with the pharmacist. They have the education and experience plus many have people skills. The pharmacists to avoid are the ones that just got out of school and they are working their first job being the pharmacist on duty. They have the book knowledge for pharmacology but not the experience dealing with different manufacturers and people like pharmacists have that have worked for a while

Jan, have you called different pharmacies in different parts of town? Try calling a few different pharmacys in the best part of town. Or if you have the time go in and speak to the pharmacist on duty in person. Have you talked to the Pharmacy Manager at your pharmacy. If not, call and ask for to speak them or ask if they are on duty if you go in person. Usually the Pharmacy Manager has their picture up with their name under their picture in the front where you can see it.

queeniek, if.you signed a pain contract you may need to.talk.to your Dr before getting the prescription filled at another pharmacy. Not doing so could be breaking your contract and leaving.you without pain.management.

PLEASE PLEASE someone respond to this and the prior post I put up!! I just picked up my script for another 120 Norco- drove by 3 pharmacies and 2 of them just straight shut me down when they found out I was looking for brand specific-'Qualitest'. Honestly .... I am at my wits end. The 3rc pharmacy I went to, I noticed Qualitest products on their shelves. I simply told the lady that I did not want to fill my prescription if they carried Millkrofot (misspell). She said they don't but I am a few days early, so I left. I have an appointment with my pain management dr @11am to talk with him about my concerns & issues with this damn medication ----how I feel that Watson & Millkrofot do not work for me, how I want brand specific. I am going to ask for either Qualitest or name brand Norco. Can anyone give me any feedback on name brand Norco? I have never taken them. Or can anyone give me any advice on how to approach this conversation with my dr. I have had the same pain management dr since 2009. I have followed everything he has ask of me, never faltered. Advice please- before 11am 10-07-2015

The 1st Watson 853 I took did not lower my pain level at all. When the 2nd pill also had no effect I knew something was wrong with this formulation. After a Google search I found so many other similar experiences. I called Actavis to see if they had an explanation, and should hear back from them today. I have been taking hydrocarbon for 10 years and never had a problem. Oxycodone makes it harder to sleep and harder to urinate, so that's not a good substitute. Now what? Insurance won't pay for another script right now for more of this class of drugs. This is a serious problem.

I've been on oxycodone for five or six years, and my wife has used the same for seven!! when I get my script filled I get Actavis the darker blue one's 30 mg..IR. But sometimes my wife Fill's hers, wherever she can find them, she gets the litter blue color and we know for a fact they don't work as long or as well!!!?? I think these greedy companies are diluting it to steal from us..Like you we are not stupid people by far! Wish I had a way of comparing the two chemically, i know there not the same!!! just think if they make your 30's into 20's, that's a lot of money.
