New Side Effects After Accutane Treatment?

Hi. I finished my 6 month Accutane treatment a month ago and have been feeling very weird since then. I have a lack of energy, loss of appetite, and get full after only 2-4 bites of a meal. My first period since I finished accutane was awful. I'm usually very light and don't have any major cramps but this month, it was horrendous. Could these symptoms be my body trying to get used to being off of the medicine? I haven't read anywhere about side effects after your treatment but, I haven't been doing anything different in my lifestyle. Thanks so much!

I never took it for 6 months straight that would be a nightmare. i would stay on it until my lips and skin were dried and then stop.

It is not withdrawal side effects. It is a side effect of Accutane which when ingested begins a process of deterioration of the body in an accelerated manner. The loss of energy is one of the first signs that you have ingested too much vitamin A. If it were an acute side effect it would not be so bad, (which means it would pass),unfortunately it is a chronic side effect.

Hello, Lindsey! How are you? I'm sorry about how you're feeling.

After finishing your course of treatment with it, it would actually be withdrawal effects and yes, it is completely possible to experience them, because your body gets used to anything that you ingest regularly for a long period of time.

It would be best to check with your doctor to be sure, but the stuff you've described does sound typical of stopping a medication. You may also experience chills, diarrhea and headache.
