New Hepatitic C Drug - Not Covered - 56 Thousand Dollar Program
UpdatedI live in Washington state and to my surprise, was recently diagnosed with Hep C. Specialist says in early stage but will eventually treat. He doesn't use Interferon. Exclusively uses a new med. Not covered by any insurance. One pill a day x 8 weeks. Total cost 56 Thousand bucks. I'm only 53 and don't use any drugs at all, don't drink. My income is classified as low since cut to part time. After rent, utilities, limited personal costs (toiletries, etc) I am broke. Are there programs that pay for treatment before this disease has me at death's door? I think he said drug starts with a "S". He didn't write it down. Do Drug makers have programs to pay for treatment? He says it's my only option he will consider, and best option with best outcome. Of course I want the best. But what is my life worth? Anyone have suggestions?

Yes, some manufacturers do have programs that can help pay for such medications.
If you can find out the name of it, I will gladly research it for you to see if there is one.
Alternatively, you should also try consulting a different doctor, they may use other medications that aren't so expensive.
There is more than one effective and successful medication.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
