New Generic 30 Mg Adderall Xr (all Orange W/ R 3061 On Them) Not As Effective (Page 2)

please share your experience with this never seen before, less effective drug that two different pharmacy's have given to me in last two months. they make me fall asleep!

I thought I was the only one feeling this way. I'm really glad to know I'm not alone! I've been on adderall for 8 years and although there have been slight differences here and there, its never been this bad. I had to take 2 of the 30mg orange 3061 capsules to get the same effect as 1 of the real ones. The 3061s are not effective at all. Now I'll run out of my RX this month because of it. From now on its only DAW for me.

if this is the case then that makes no sense that theyre using the supposedly ineffective adderall xr to get ppl to switch to vyvanse when you just stated that the vyvanse made you feel even worse

Hi, I have been taking 2 Adderrall XR 25mg for almost 2 years. Last June my insurance changed me to the generic of this. I filled it at local Rite Aid (Teva) and was nauseus for over an hour every time taking this medication. As well as less focus, fatigue, and headaches The next month I filled it at local CVS (Actavis) and it was even worse an hour after taking this medication. As well as less focus, fatigue, and headaches. I thought at first I had to get used to the generic and didn't think anything of it. I went to the Rite Aid and CVS out of convenience, no other reason. I went back to have prescription filled at Rite Aid and again was feeling sick every day after taking it. I started to research generic vs brand name. I thought I was going crazy. So next month I went back to CVS and felt worse. Finally spoke with my doctor who informed me that many of his patients were having trouble with the generic, especially the Actavis. He also explained there have been issues with the timing of the release of medication in the XR. And that the rest of the fillers in the medication is not FDA regulated. I am finally back on the brand name. Have to pay $30, but better than feeling sick every day for 1-2hrs. Still having some stomach issues, but its only been 4 days. Really hoping it gets better!! Thank you for this post, I thought it was just me!

I have been taking adderal for 8 years, recently I have been problems with adderall no longer being effective in regards to focusing, which has caused my doctor to prescribe different types of medication. Anyways its midterms week for my med school and I need to focus so I he gave me adderal 60mg xr when i went to CVS the gave me r3061. I can tell you that literally it does nothing, in order to know for sure I decided to try taking more than I normally do. Long story short in 7 hours took about 200mg (periodically taking another one) of r3061 total, I dont feel concentrated one bit all I feel is extremely tired, also my body feels fine my heart rate is normal. So it looks like R3061 doesn't work and I'm f***ed for midterms. By the way I dont suggest taking as much as I did, I am a long time adderal user and no almost everything regarding the pill. I also only did this as a test just to see if it works or not, because if i took 200mg of name brand I probably would be up for 3 days. Please let me know if theres any suggestions on how to get this to work as I have 3 midterms this week and can't get to see my doctor for at least 7 days

I'm am so glad to to hear others with the same story; the new generics are not the same, it is truly tragic. I've even paid beyond my co-pay for the 'brand' and have not had the same results.

I took for the first time ever within the last 12 hours. I am sweating uncontrollably, shaking, heart rate is out of control, dizzy spells, this is just me maybe it will be different for you!

I got 2 of the orange R 3061 capsules, with white beads in them. I took one at 5 p.m and once it kicked in my lips were numb, then I just got up and started lifting weights. I was also smoking marijuana every hour or so. I would feel the marijuana high for 5 minutes then the generic adderall took back over. At 8 p.m I broke open the other one and let the beads dissolve on my tongue. They work. It is now 12:23 p.m the next day and I'm still wide awake, walking around, checking my windows every 15 minutes, and remember I've been smoking marijuana the whole time also. Good review by me.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I am 25 and i have ADHD, so i have been taking Adderall 20mg XR for 3 years. i would always fill my script at target and never had any problems. Until one day when i got it filled, instead of the orange capsules they were a neon blue color. when i asked wtf was going on, the pharmacist explained that their vendor had a new brand of generic(Actavis Elizabeth). Complete crap, it was like you said, a sleeping pill. So i called around to different pharmacies asking what brand they carried, what i found out is, the only company that make a good generic for Adderall 20mg XR is Global Pharmaceuticals. Teva Pharmaceuticals is the company that for some reason stopped making it, and sent me on a wild goose chase to find a proper generic. Just call around and ask if they carry Global Pharm. Adderall. I just had dosage up'd from 20mg XR to 30mg XR. Which i had to hunt down as well, but again the company is Global Pharm. and they are working just fine for me.

I've tried adderall xr and it was by far the best and got my work done..the amphetamine salt ones kept me up but wasn't like the brand as far as I knew..these new ones I've tried saying r 3061 is as ineffective and wasteful of your money..and I took three 30mg just to try and nothing..which is bull..I even tried vyvanse or whatever from some friends and it kept me up but I did not feel any kind of stimulant..being back my adderall xr brand please!!!!

Read my post again, you have to find a pharmacy that stocks the generic made by these companies( Teva Pharm., Shire Pharm., and Global Pharmaceuticals). And you got this far, might as well research the difference between Vyvanse and Adderall. I will save you some time and explain. Adderall is a D-amphetamine salt, Vyvanse is an L-amphetamine salt. D for Dextro and L for Levo. Adderall has a "kick in" type of feel to it. Vyvanse has an "ease into it" type of onset feeling. Vyvanse is a metabolite meaning it has to be swallowed, it was designed so it could NOT be smoked, insufflated or IV'ed.

Well I've been on Teva 30mg XR (two capsules a day) for years and I've always benefited from them greatly. My doctor helped find me the best price because of financial issues and it came down to CVS pharmacy offering 60 - 30 mg XRs for $150 with a coupon. That's half the price I paid for Teva's XR from Walgreens. I took the all orange R3061's and after a few hours felt like they were not working. I felt sedated and groggy. I took a couple more until I took 6 pills (180mg). After a few hours I finally felt the effects of the amphetamine, however it kind of felt like I took sleeping pills and Adderall together. I felt the the active drug working but I was completely in a trance-like state of tranquility.

I contacted my doctor and here's what he said:

"It’s a little soon to know exactly how these will compare to the Teva pills. All generics are a little different and sometimes that’s better, sometimes worse. Time will tell. You do have the option to call around to pharmacies and see who is stocking the Teva generic before you fill a prescription, if it turns out to be the best brand for you.

For now, give it a little time, and let your body adjust before we decide. 2 to 4 weeks should tell the story. "

So I guess I'm stuck with them for a month until I refill it next time at Walgreens. Nothing like thinking you got a great deal only to find you just got screwed :-/

More than likely, its not your pharkacist its your insurance company.....the generics are CHEAPER! I'm afrair to ask what will happen to use now, now with the affordable healthcare

In May 2013, I was prescribe Adderall 10 mg (now 15 mg) soon after (2 months) the new health insurer got comfortable and I was switched to the generic brands, which was different each time it was refilled. I didnt make much abou. it until I began feel weird, weird thoughts on top the side affects that were not listed within the information phamplet. During that time, i was communicating the noticeable changes as well as becoming withdrawn and not wanting move during the day let alone leaving the house or caring for myself. My doctor wrote 4he prescriptions for the name brands; however, I kept receiving the generic forms. When I protested, the pharmacist handed me a printout that stated that the generic as reqired by my insurance provider. Long story short, i had to appeal the insurance co. decision--denied reason other generics are available and my age. During my journey, I found it to be the norm for a number of their clients. While observing the insurance companies denial, they recommend3d that I could appeal their decision by sending my request to the same office and person who initially misdireted me, withheld all the pertinent information to support my initial hearing and was not truthful about the support that was written on my behalf by my doctor. Neeedless to say i went another route and next week I have a hearing with the city's office that has a natural interest. I am greatful to read some of your identical experiences and to know that I'm not crazy and more importantly I'm not alone--neither are you.

Again, thank you and let's report to FDA the worthless and harmful generic brands before it turns for the worst....we really havent seen the yet this is just the beginning, so get active today.

Wow, I am the compleate opposite of everything I read. My insurance switch and is now only allows the Brand Aderall XL. It sparks anger in me and makes me feel ill to my stomach. I want my generic back I even tried to mix the 2, still get pissy. I was soo excited to lean I can only get brand. This gose to show that everyone is different. I will now have to pay out of pocket for generic, to top it off its activis. My only hope is of a friend that is on 30 will trade some of here for my 20.

I have been taking adderall for 12 years without issue. Generic form came out in 2009 again Ive never had an issue even with generic until this month when I filled my script at CVS. Now the med does not work at all and makes me tired on top of it. After much research the new generic carried by CVS is manufactured by ACTARIS PHARMA. My script is for 2-10mg capsules, these from Actaris are cream and light blue. The only way to get anywhere with all these complaints is to call your local pharmacy manager, and also to corporate(CVS- 1800.shop.cvs... find your way thru automated system to a person) and formally complain about their ineffectiveness. (CVS told me they have no one who has complained prior to my call.) and they also referred me to file complaint with ACTARIS 2 1-(800) 272-5525. Choose "complaint about side effects" to be connected to a person who after asking some questions will offer to refund your copay. CVS also said if you want a different manufacturer they will special order them for you, but you need to give them a few days notice to get in the meds. So basically... refuse meds from ACTARIS, place formal complaints and be vigilant. Being a controlled substance, by law the pharmacy cannot swap your ACTIVIS med with another manufacturer after the script is filled. The only way to fix current situation is to get new script, have DR intervene with insurance company to cover new script and maybe backlash from insurance companies who are losing money will hit them where it hurts. My DR. is also curious to see if the active ingredient which according to FDA regs must be in the generic med, will actually come up in my system. If it does not...that will make for some interesting conversation with FDA regarding ACTAVIS. Time will tell.

I recently came back to my college town after winter break and noticed the switch to the Actavis from the local Wal-mart pharmacy. Didn't think much of it at all until I started to realize it was not working like my prescription used to. I feel a great sense of loss of motivation I have never felt with other generics. I had been thinking it was a building of tolerance or something until I finally put two and two together that it was a switch of generic brands. I am going to try to get off the Actavis. Does anyone have any suggestions for another generic and where I can get it?
