New Duragesic Patch Not Working (Top voted first)
UpdatedRecently the Duragesic patch I have been using has been changes from what used to look like a liquid and now is just a small flat patch. With the previous design I was able to walk and do things. Now, even though I have had the dosage increased, I am in constant pain and rarely get out of bed. I am young so this concerns me. I am trying to find out if any company still manufactures this old design.
Thank you for any help.

depending on the company that produces the patch there are 3 that I am aware of .the mylan is small /looks like a smoking patch;the larger one which is 2 layers and can be injected and withdrawn with a syringe(this is the one that is most dangerous) the 3rd is by I believe allancott.each patch is different strength even though the one I use is 100ul. check to see your patch strength then look at the foil wrap and see the actual strength; the variance can and does affect in a neg. way./also in using the Duragesic patch/changing it after 72hrs (read the insert because it takes from 12-24hrs for it to actually begin to absorb if this is correct then everytime you switch patches you have a lull;that's generally why pts are given the tablet as the supplement for brkthru pain.
Duragesic contains the active ingredient Fentanyl, this is a very powerful narcotic used to treat severe, chronic pain.
As to the design, it may just be that your pharmacy had a generic from a different manufacturer and their formulation just doesn't work as well for you.
Have you tried asking if they still have or can get the ones from the prior manufacturer?
You can try different pharmacies or contact your doctor, have you talked to them, yet?

Sandoz fentany patches have changed. They no longer have the gel in them. I have used the patches for 4 years and now I am in sever pain. I called Sandoz and they told me just because i did not see it that the medication was still in it. I don't believe it. The new patches don't seem to have anything it. The old ones worked great but these don't do hardly anything!
How do you sign up for medco and do you have to have part c or d or whatever medicare I draw disability and they sent a letter saying I was eligable for part C I think
