New Birth Control

I just started a new birth control two and half weeks ago. I have been on birth control before, started at 16, with some stomach pains for a couple days within the first month. That was on Lo Loestrin Fe, then I switched to the generic. Now moved out and getting my birth control on my own at 20, a new doctor gave me microgestin. (She was so insincere and wanted me out the door ASAP). For a few days I have felt nausea and severe stomach pain, only throwing up once. But it would go away after a few hours. Today things took a horrible turn. The pain was so unbearable from my abdomen I was in fetal position crying all day like a child, while my boyfriend tried to do everything he could to help. Not eating a meal in a couple days, I dry heaved twice and my body temperature would rise and fall with the nausea. I am going to call my Gyno back home on Monday when they are open. But should I stop taking the pills until then? Can this really be from the birth control? Is there something I can do to help me feel better?

Hello, Sara! How are you?

It would be very unusual for a hormonal contraceptive to cause such sever stomach pain, it's usually much more like what you described with the prior one you took.

I'd suggest definitely having this checked out to be sure. If it is due to the contraceptive, then you'll need to switch to a different one.

Has it eased up, yet?
