I want to get off of neurotin I'm takig 300 mg 3x daily how long will it take? ## My father has been taking 300 mg of neurontin every morning for approximately 3 years for treatment of neuropathic pain in his feet. He was diagnosed with dementia at least two years ago and his confusion and psychosis has progressively worsened. A nurse friend of mine told me I should immediately take him off the drug since her pharmacist advised her to do the same with her father whose psychotic behavior became worse when he started neurontin. She reports a remarkable improvement after he was off the drug three days. I was on neurontin for almost a year then I lost my balance one day and then my inner ear was destroyed from an inner ear infection and I lost part of my hearing and now walk with a cane because of loss of balance. This all came on so suddenly and now Im ruined for life and cant get an attorney to take my case even though the symptoms of neurontin that I have are stated in the side effects of neurontin by the company that makes it. The side effects are stated under the companys side effects. I also have constant dizziness. I have been on Neurontin for about 2 months now and it is helping my chronic pain, however... I am having terrible mood swings. I'm already dealing with depression and anxiety (which is currently untreated due to a ridiculous wait time for an appointment). I haven't been without pain for years and while i'm enjoying that, I'm ruining my life and friendships with my mood swings. Should I stay on it until I see a psychiatrist or should I stop taking them immediately. I am having SI that occur more than daily and i'm scared that one of these times it won't be an idea, but an attempt. Hi I am new to this drug starting on 100 mg 3 times a day because I have been getting terrible headaches. I was on ami for 4 months because of nerve pain , and that drug was sorting that pain out lovely. These headaches which are worse when I have been in bed for a few hours it wakes me up are so painful. Has any one experienced this before? I am waiting physio again and am off work for a week. I have been prescribed neurontin fo agonising nerve pain, especially in the cervical spine, following an injury to my back a year ago. I was put on 400mgs once a day and have been on them for a week now. I have all the expected side-effects, brain fog (or sludge), nausea, extreme tiredness, insomnia, loss of balance, depresssion and suicidal thoughts, constipation and inability to pee. There's been no effect on the terrible pain yet. Please don't advise me to 'see my doctor': I am stuck in a backwater of southern Europe (Greece) where there is no medical monitoring or help. I am extremely dizzy, have a very unsteady gait, and am finding the activities of daily life becoming a challenge. I stopped Neurontin 5 days ago after taking it for 8 days. How long will it stay in my system? ## It really shouldn't take too much longer, since you weren't taking it for that long. However, are you certain these symptoms have been caused by the medication? I have been taking neurotin for 3 years. I take 800mg 3 times daily. I would like to know if shaking is a side effect. It started about 3 months ago. ## Hi Marlene, Interestingly enough, an "uncontrollable shaking of a part of your body" is listed as a side effect of Neurontin (Gabapentin). Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a694007.html#side-effects This medication seems to have some pretty strange side effects, so I would play it safe and talk to your doctor if it becomes too bothersome or severe. sealed neurontin shelf life ## The shelf-life should be mentioned on the label, as by law I believe it is mandatory. However based on my own research, shelf-life isn't always accurately depicted and could significantly vary depending on how the medication is stored. From what I could gather, it may be up to 2-5 years from the date of manufacture. I hope this info helps!

Is there a problem with weight gain taking neurotin? Also, I was told it is not a safe drug and has had several lawsuits. ## NEURONTIN FOR MOOD DISORDER ## You are for sure going to gain weight and NEVER feel full on it. Lyrica and gabitril are just the same also you will feel HOT like you are going to catch a fire. ONE NASTY MEDICATION ## I've taken both medications. Recently my Md prescribed neurontin for me and I am afraid to take it. I am BipolarII Clinically Depressed and have attempted suicide in the past 4 yrs. Is 5.5 days long enough to pass urine test? I see my PM mid-day this Thurs. Mid-day. I am Rx'ed for: 10mgPerc 5/6x/day, 4-5mg Klononpin/day, 30mgFlexiril/day, & 2700mg Neurontin (gabapentin)/day. I took neurontin for approx 5 days - 100 mg for 2 days, 100 x 2 for 2 days and 100 x3 for 1 day. It was prescribed to me for post herpatic nerve pain related to shingles. In the middle of the night after my 5th day of medication, I woke to use to the bathroom. When I sat up in bed, I nearly fell over to the right side. After sitting for a while, I stood and walked, also staggering to the right side. I then had tingling and numbness in right arm, right side of face, lips. Went to ER and had CT Scan, MRI, echo, ekg, and neck vessel study, blood tests; and was admitted for observation. All tests negative. I thought I had a stroke. It is available as both a name brand and generic, which means it is being manufactured by several different companies and in quite a few different doses, so I couldn't possible describe them all for you.
