Need Help Getting Methadone Script Filled In South Louisiana (Top voted first)

My wife has been on Methadone for 5 yrs for pain. We live in south Louisiana but her pain management doctor is in south arkansas where we used to live. Up until today Walgreens has been filling her script. Today they told us they will no longer fill out of state scripts. We have not changed her pain management doctor simply because all of the doctors we have gone to see here have told her they would take her off the methadone and start back with something like Hydrocodone and work back up to the methadone if needed. We spent 3 yrs doing that before she was put on methadone. 3 yrs of pain. I refuse to make her do that again. I will drive her to Arkansas every time she needs to see the doctor and get a script filled if needed. But if at all possible we would like to find a way to not have to do that because it hurts her to make the 5 hour drive with me. Does anyone know somewhere in south Louisiana that will fill an out of state script? Her doctor is more than willing to provide his credentials and all of that to any pharmacy that will do so. This is a legit script not someone just trying to get pills. Thank you for any help.

I don't wear a hat. I wear pants that fit correctly, and the only tattoos I have are Marine Corps tattoos and you can not see them in a regular T-shirt. I dress like a Marine who takes pride in the way he looks. If you really feel the need to assume how my wife or I live or present ourselves to the public, please feel free to send me your address and I will gladly come and rectify your attitude. Not everyone who is on pain medicine chooses to be on it. It is people like you who are part of the problem.

I wish I could tell you that we have found a solution or a doctor here that will not require her to come off the methadone and work back up to it, sadly, I cannot. We are still having to drive to AR every month. One month to see the doctor, the month in between her doctor appt's we drive 5 hours to AR fill her script and drive right back 5 hours. I don't care if I have to do this for the rest of our lives, I will do that before I watch her suffer again like she was before she was put on methadone.

I too have chronic pain, fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, and severe osteoarthritis. I live in South Arkansas. My doctor was in Louisiana and kept me from going on disability. He has quit doing pain management. I saw him for 10 years and he saved me from constant pain. But, now I can' t find anybody who will help me. Can you please tell me who your wife' s doctor is? I would be forever grateful. I am crying as I write this cause I am so tired of begging for help for something I cannot control.

Did you ever find help in S. LA?
I do not have personal exp with Methadone but I had a roommate a few yrs ago who took methadone & she went to a "methadone clinic" in Baton Rouge where I believe they gave her the meds while at her appointment.

Also, have you looked to see whether your insurance rx rider allows mail-fill? Mine used to it was Express Scripts. 90 day supply & narcs /CS included but idk about Methadone. I took LTs & some other CS and they filled & mailed.

Finally, there are some smaller pharmacies like "mom n pop" places that will work with you.

All that said, I know of a doc in North LA that is a pretty liberal writer from what I have heard. I live in S LA so again no 1st hand experience. If interested in dr in north la or in a couple of pharmacies that might write esp if local or known doc - hit me back n I will get that info to you.

I have even heard that you can join online membership group and it costs like $50 to join. If u have a script they will fill for you from Canada etc

If a pain Dr lets his dea number expire (and I've been on 210 mg of methadone & 2400mcg of fentanyl a day for 13 years and now can't get my meds filled and am going through severe withdrawals), shouldn't this be a malpractice legal suit?

CBsouth are you and your wife still making the drive back and forth to s. Ark monthly to the dr and to get the script filled? I live in n La and in the process getting transfer to seeing a dr in s Ark also and I didn't know about the La law the La pharmacy won't fill a out of town script no longer since 2014. My question is do you have any problems filling it in Ark? I was reading your message on here about you and your wife having to drive back and forth. That's a shame.
