Need Pain Dr. And Meds In Missouri
UpdatedI live in N.W. Missouri and have several disorders that cause pain. For example, dural ectasia from my Marfans Syndrome and Chronic Pancreatitis among a couple others. Doctors here will not prescribe pain medication not actually am I able to get my phenergan for nausea so I can maybe eat. The Pain clinics around here treat back problems since that seems to be where the money is. I dont know what to do but i do have documented proof of my pain and issues. Any help would be great. thanks

Hello,
A regular primary care doctor should be able to prescribe you Phenergan since it is just an antihistamine/antiemetic.
In regards to finding a local pain doctor, I have listed below a couple websites specific to locating pain management doctors in a given area. All you have to do is input your city or zip code for narrowed results:

You can give this other page a try too if you come up with different results for some reason or another:
wellness.com/find/pain%20management%20specialist
Many of the results you find (in one or both of the links above) also list a phone number for that specific doctor; I'd consider calling up a number of them to see if they are accepting new patients; some aren't, but most usually are. Also, make sure to let them know about the documented proof you have. That might make it easier for you to get the help you need.
If you have any more questions, post back and I'll be happy to help you.
I'm very sorry that you're suffering.
When you're trying to set up appointments with a new pain management clinic, are you asking them first if they will prescribe medications?
Learn more pain management details here.
If you are, that may be where the problem is starting. Most doctors and their staff are taught to view that as drug seeking behavior and will use whatever excuse they can to not even let you get in the door.
You have to get an appointment set up, without asking for any medications, then make sure they get copies of all of your records and go from there.
Thank you, I actually did not call them and ask them if they prescribe medications. I did give them the specifics of my health problems and they stated they treat pain problems in the spine only. Also there is only the one pain clinic in our town which is attached to the hospital and the next closest one is 75 miles away. A regular physician should be able to prescribe phenergan but mine stated that it can be addictive and people use it with pain meds. So Im just trying to find a Dr. that will help without having to travel so far when I cant drive.
