Need Help Finding Doctor To Prescribe Either Oxycodone Vicodin Or Methadone 10mg For My Chronic Pain (Page 3)

I have been suffering from chronic pain for 7 years and have always been on and off pain meds from tylenol 3 to 90mg methadone at the worst of any ever taken. I decided to dose down & get off of methadone as I did not care for the "clinic" enviroment per say as I was using more for pain then for addicition. I found a dr that prescribed me the pain meds for breakthrough pain and the pill form of methadone 10mg was what I chose but now he is gone as he lost his license which sucks for me because NO ONE will give me anything, not even the methadone unless I go back to the stupid clinc and I so don't want that... DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A DR. that would prescribe anything or just something to get me through life with less pain? I am in the twin cities of Minnesota and I will drive if need be.

I agree. My family doctor prescribes my pain medication and I see him every three months. Some doctors are not honest about why they cannot prescribe.
It is a big responsibility but if a patient follows the rules and does not abuse their prescriptions their doctor will prescribe for them.

Roro, who told you some states do not allow family practice doctors to prescribe opiates for chronic pain patients ? This is not true.

Your dr may of not had a choice as some states are not permitting family practice dr's to do pain meds. Ohio only allows a 7 day supply from a general practice dr., but for long term treatment you must use a pain management doctor.

Honor, what do you mean you refilled your hydrocodone ? You haven't been able to get refills on hydrocodone since Oct 6, 2014. Stopping any opiate after an extended time of use can be difficult. But, the dosage, the med and how often you take it has a lot to do with how difficult stopping it can be. If you have been/are getting the hydrocodone from another doctor and not telling your doctor of 15 years you are seeing another doctor for this medication, that can cause problems with your doctors. It sounds like your doctor of 15 yrs has a strong position on hydrocodone. If you don't respect her position, she has every right to dismiss you. It is not your doctors responsibility to find you a new doctor or give you a referral. Even if you got a referral there are no guarantees a new doctor would prescribe you want you want. Call your insurance company and ask for list of doctors in your area that accept your insurance. If you don't have insurance. Call the doctors in your area and ask if they accept self pay patients. A new doctor will more than likely want a copy of your medical records from your doctor of 15 yrs. Chances are very good the doctor a note in your medical records about the hydrocodone. This may make it difficult for you to find a new doctor.

I've just been released from a so called physician from refilling my hydrocodone that I've been on for about 15 years. Instantly stopped no warning because she doesn't believe in meds for fibromyalgia as well as other back issues. I'm suffering from withdrawals and horrible extreme pain. She took over my care from my physician who retired. Anyone who knows about this medication knows you are not to just stop care. This to me is unethical as a doctor. I've never failed a test or had any issues she has a personal bias cause I was told she only gives this medication to elderly patients who have arthritis. I suffer arthritis too and just because I'm in my 40s doesn't make my pain any less than theirs. These doctors feel like than can do anything without any reprecoussion and that's not fair. I got nothing to curb the withdrawals or a referral to anyone else. What can I do cause the office she's at stands by her even though the medication states there can be all kinds of issues by instantly stopping this medication and I'm dealing with many of them. Just because you have limited income doesn't mean you should get inferior care

I live in the western communities of Palm Bch. County, (Royal Palm Bch., Wellington & Loxahatchee). I was prescribed Methadone 20 years ago for Fibromyalgia, several herniated discs due to a rollover car accident & Hep.C. It's been a struggle on & off finding Dr.s who prescribe, but I've had the same one for over 5 years now. Out of the blue the pharmacy I had no problem getting my script from for 270 10 mg. Methadone, no longer carry it. Now I really need help finding a new pharmacy that carry this drug. If anyone knows any pharmacies in Palm Bch. County I can get the script filled, it would help so much. I'm too sick to even go look everywhere. Thanks a million for your help.

Please, I really do need a referral. Once I talk to the doctor and show him my extraordinary surgeries, I am not worried about what he decides that I need. You clearly trust him for your husband. I am stunned about the ill-will from so many on here. They jump to conclusions and it's sad. Anyway, I want a doctor who is kind and can cut through the nonsense. What is your suggestion.

Have you found a decent pain doctor in Charlotte yet? I am also in your area & have been looking for someone decent for 8 months with no luck at all. There are plenty of jerks who dismiss real pain while the war on drugs affects everyone even chronic pain patients. I deal with chronic back & neck pain. I am willing to travel 40 miles plus to find a good one. {edited for privacy}. I would love to hear from you & learn about any progress you have made finding a good pain doctor. Maybe we can exchange ideas. Anyone else may feel free to offer help if you know of a good pain doctor in Charlotte within 50 miles. I feel for everyone with chronic pain... I have been suffering for 9 years... off and on pain mess with different dr's... most moved or went on to different things... this past year was especially hard!!!!! I have to find some help!!! Anyone from Denver out there??? Need to find a good dr willing to prescribe mess as well as other therapies!!!
