Need Help Finding Doctor To Prescribe Either Oxycodone Vicodin Or Methadone 10mg For My Chronic Pain (Page 20)

I have been suffering from chronic pain for 7 years and have always been on and off pain meds from tylenol 3 to 90mg methadone at the worst of any ever taken. I decided to dose down & get off of methadone as I did not care for the "clinic" enviroment per say as I was using more for pain then for addicition. I found a dr that prescribed me the pain meds for breakthrough pain and the pill form of methadone 10mg was what I chose but now he is gone as he lost his license which sucks for me because NO ONE will give me anything, not even the methadone unless I go back to the stupid clinc and I so don't want that... DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A DR. that would prescribe anything or just something to get me through life with less pain? I am in the twin cities of Minnesota and I will drive if need be.

I just want to know what in the hell we all can do about any of this b/c it seems like our hands are tied. I don't remember how I found this site but I only come on occasionally just to see if there's any good news or progression among chronic pain sufferers. Pardon my anger but I do believe I have a right just as much as anyone else on this site to express my viewpoint and how I personally have been treated as a chronic pain patient. I have personally just been worn out and physically + psychologically exhausted from the whole ordeal of finding a true doctor who cares about pain patients. It just seems that wherever I go on this website whether it be in Pennsylvania, Florida, California, or South Carolina the story always Remains the Same that everyone is reaching out for help that seems impossible to find. The people that live in the states that have medicinal marijuana passed do not have as much to complain about because at least they have that as a tool that a lot of other states do not have nor probably will never have including North Carolina. Someone with a nickname P405 on here from somewhere in the USA made the comment directed towards someone not sure if it was me yet but I feel the same way that person did but it was saying something to the effect not speaking your mind about feeling suicidal or drinking alcohol as a means of pain relief when you have absolutely no other alternative but to take a bottle of Tylenol a day which can be just as deadly or harmful. I am telling you right now that I will personally" B****" slap the first or next person that asks me if I have ever tried Tylenol for my pain because that is the biggest joke I have ever heard of in my life to treat chronic pain. I am not trying to attack you, P405, so please don't get me wrong there because I believe we should all stick together as one in the community of chronic pain sufferers. We need to fight back against the enemy that is attacking us and not helping us not fighting against each other because that's does us no good. I just know that as a chronic pain sufferer and reading all across the headlines over the world that chronic pain is one of the number one causes of suicide in this country. How in the hell is someone supposed to feel when they can't get their pain meds and they do everything they possibly are supposed to do when they do get in a pain clinic and which I would say 80% of the pain clinics that are open for business are always looking for reasons to drop people as patients just as much as they are to get people in the door no matter how wrong they may be when the discharge letter comes in the mail. It could be a misunderstanding on the doctors part or on the staff but by the time you get that letter it's too late and they don't want to give you a chance to explain because they are ready to say bye but the patient is the one left suffering with withdrawals or whatever they are getting ready to face. I know that the stronger the medicine and the longer you have been on the medicine then the harder it is going to be to get off of the medicine Plus the doctors always look at it like well you are just addicted to it if you've been on it a long time and it could be any combination to pain medicines then it doesn't matter they look at you and all they want to do is just Point At You making you out to be the bad guy looking for drugs. Also know that these doctors all stick together so it doesn't matter if you've been going to your doctor that referred you to the pain doctor for let's say 7 or 8 years then you see this one so-called pain doctor one time but all he wants to do is be condescending to you and pick you or pick your brain so to speak when you can just tell all they're looking for is a reason to point you and look you in the eye and tell you you're just getting addicted that is all then downplay your pain on top of it.

I am actually in the middle of seeking a pain doctor right now as I was seeing the same pain doctor for 2 years which I thought was going rather well consider the two years is a pretty much a track record for me not to mention the fact that he was giving me high-powered pain medicine plus I only had to go back every 3 months 4 refills so I was pretty comfortable with the way things were set up but sometimes if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is and I found that out the hard way. Some of the Raiders may have heard my story before on here but to make a long story short I was on a nerve medicine called Klonopin that I have been on for at least five or six years from the doctor that referred me to the pain clinic who had also told me that he thought that that was working rather well for me over most medications and that I was responsible which made me feel good but now when I went to the pain clinic they only told me that they could not write out my Klonopin perfectly okay with that because I already had somebody write that out.

He started me out on oxy 15 milligrams at 4 times a day then after another visit the oxy 15s were not as powerful to me because I have been on them awhile but he really had a little temper on him because I simply asked if he would consider the 30 milligrams then he hit the roof. He told me that if that's what I wanted that I would have to go to another doctor because that that would not be written out in his office. I could have done without the attitude because all I was asking was a suggestion for something that would carry me over or give me something better for breakthrough pain than Tramadol because that is a useless drug. I guess that I was really slowing him down because he had to look at the computer to see what else was in there like Hydromorphone or Dilaudid. They reminded me then that was Klonopin that he could only raise me so far with my pain medicine which I agreed to and never complained about it. Things were going well for the better part of two years and I never asked for any more increases on my pain medicine but the doctor that writes out the Klonopin likes to play games with me every so often going from prescribing it to the month to prescribing it by the weekend which I know that my pain doctor looks at the DEA report every time plus I have to take a U/A every time which does not bother me at all. I was not thinking too clearly one night and I did leave the cap off the bottle or the cat was not screwed on the bottle properly and some of my pills did fall down the drain and that's honest because I do not let that happen ever plus I don't share ever with my pills which some people are stupid for doing that but I was afraid to be without them due to the fact that I have had seizures in the past. Now that it is 6 months later after this happened I have come to regret speaking to my neurologist about my Klonopin because I have I don't want to take too much of anyone's time but I sure hope that all of you who read this will not be on the verge of giving up like I have been for so long now because I know how it feels for people to just shut you out and act like they don't believe that you're in pain because conditions like fibromyalgia musculoskeletal pain it is very hard and I hope that many people who read this will keep the good fight going although it is like fighting City Hall and getting worse about 4 days worth of pills but I should have just rode it out instead of letting him know because I was getting it by the month and then he changed it to the week when that happened which was the first time that he did that by the week while I was seeing this pain doctor and that was a dead giveaway.

The reason I say that is because this meeting I had with my pain doctor in April was an unusual one because normally he would come in there ask if my Pains being controlled then would give me my prescriptions then I was on my way in less than 5 or 10 minutes. Bear in mind that this was the first time my neurologist was prescribing my Klonopin by the week not the month so on the DEA report Klonopin was coming up every week instead of once a month so it was like that was a big reminder to him probably saying oh hell no we are not doing this Klonopin thing like this every week he probably thought I was getting more pills but I was getting the same amount of pills but I just think it may have been in the back of his mind that he probably wanted to cut me off of it anyway and give me a choice but it wasn't a very good choice. The thing is he knew I was on Klonopin for the whole 2 years and the other doctor knew I was on Dilaudid the whole time so it really pissed me off when he came up to me that day in a totally different state of mind telling me okay well by the next visit you will need to be clean from Klonopin and I was looking at him like he had lost his mind because I have been on it too long for him to expect me to come off of it that fast.

He did not believe in staying there and ask him questions or answering questions it was just his way or the highway and he didn't give a damn if you were hurting or if you were going to go into withdrawal he just didn't care he didn't give me a chance to ask anything like what else can I take besides Klonopin other than antidepressants which made me into a complete zombie. The only thing you told me was that 3 months should give me enough time to get off of the medicine and for it to be completely out of my body but he did not tell me he would drop me as a patient if it was in my body but instead he told me he would cut my medicine way down not really being specific about how far down or if it would even be the same medicine so he actually lied about that too. Honestly all I did was I called them back and I asked if there was anything they would suggest me take other than Klonopin since he's asking me to do this and I told him it would be tough because I've been on Klonopin for this for five, six, seven years which is a long time. The neurologist even told me to drop by one pill a month. I'm on four 0.5 milligrams a day. I could use 3 months to drop off of it but I would need an extra month for it to come out of my body and I guess call him back and ask the questions was against the rules with him they didn't you know they just put it to you straight like okay you have a choice you can stay on Klonopin and have your pain medicine reduced or you can go off of Klonopin and keep the pain medicine the same or go to another doctor which will write you out the same level of pain medicine while you're on that level of Klonopin but at that juncture and this juncture then I don't know what the hell to do anymore with all of this controversy.

I know people tell chronic pain patients not to give up but I don't know if a lot of people here have noticed that even you get treated differently in the emergency room. I could write a book about some of my experiences when it comes to pain medicine emergency room surgeries I've had and they are getting really bad about it in the hospital's I mean when you are a patient in the hospital bed and you're getting medicine through the IV believe me they are even getting strict about how much medicine they give you through the IV and you could have just had some surgery or something where you're in a lot of pain and I have got up and walked out 2 times because I was like screw this I am not going to be laying up here in the hospital bed being in pain because there's no sense in it.

If anyone else has ever had to do that before then I sure would like to hear about it because I know I'm not the only one that has had to do that before. I am at the point and have been at the point where I'm just thinking okay if these drugs that people are trying to get for pain are so far out of hand because of abuse and they are not going to not only make the abusers try to suffer but they are going to make the non abuser suffer as well then what they need to do is send it all back where it came from way out of the country wherever that may be but I don't think it's Mexico??? What I really love is when they ask you what your pain level is and you tell him truthfully what it is then if it's very high like I've had mine be that way sometimes with my stomach pain because I have something going on there but you tell them and they just ignore it and don't do a damn thing to help you feel better. My theory is that if it keeps going the way it is going today in this country with so many people suffering from chronic pain then the drug abuse problem plus the problem of people smuggling drugs in and out of the country and things like that it's just going to get worse it's not going to get better. I don't know about you all but I'm looking for a local support group that is like a chronic pain support group in my area somewhere.

I have wasted one copay after another trying to find a decent pain doctor or even primary doctor plus it's just so it's a nightmare because I know that they jump on people who take too much Tylenol just the same. I did get a few things from someone on here who had a nickname of Wild Heart which I hope that they read this post because I want to thank you for giving me the information that you gave me. Actually I think you were giving it to about three of us which live near Charlotte, North Carolina and I believe the post was on one of the Spartanburg, South Carolina post readings. I will agree with what you said about getting a good primary doctor to do referrals because that's usually the only way that you can get in from the beginning but then the problem is with most of them you posted they were cash only and did not accept insurance. I think most of them charge around $300 a month which is pretty steep and it does not include your medicine because I know that I went down that road back in 2012 when I had no insurance Plus it wouldn't have mattered anyway only except with the medicine but with no insurance I paid out of pocket to see the doctor plus I paid out of pocket for all my medicines which was terrible. I would like to know if there's anyone reading the post that is from North Carolina and if they know anything about some of these pain centers even within 40 to 50 miles from Charlotte? Any suggestions? Are these posts separated by City And States or by the location of the patient?? I think Wildfire but you have been from Spartanburg, I know I've heard of people willing to travel some of them three hours or more to get to a good pain clinic but that would seem to be a little much if he had to do it every single month which is one thing I miss because I had never had a doctor to write me out the quantity of medicine that actually control the pain plus the type of medicine that control the pain and yet I only had to see him every 3 months. South Carolina but I am not sure. I think the American pain Foundation has even gotten a lot of flak and falsely being accused of siding with pill pushers in the world of Medicine. Does anyone just think that pain facilities are going to crumble and we are not going to be seeing many of them in the near future because of the strict government regulations? I am a firm believer that you don't have to be in a wheelchair to be in pain nor do you have to have a car accident to have a ongoing chronic pain problem but mine is a burning sensation all the time and which I have to use ice daily and nightly. I dare one more dr. To stand up to me and question my pain because he's not going to have a very good day afterwards and I can tell you that the last doctor I went to was a total quack plus I had every chance in the world to walk out just by filling out the stupid paperwork they had but I thought in the back of my mind I need to try it now $50 shorter because of the co-pay it was a complete waste of time and the man didn't want to do anything to give me muscle relaxers which does no good whatsoever anyone and upset me up something to stick me with needles plus I said you're not sticking me with anything if you don't give me something good for breakthrough pain and charging me for it on top of it plus I'm filing a complaint for his lack of professionalism and condescending Behavior. Does anyone know how you can get in touch with folks on this website directly because they don't allow you to post your email and they're just maybe someone who lives maybe 30 minutes from me who might have an answer or know someone but you can't correspond to this one. I'm guessing that there are other websites that can do this butt I mean that there might be more people than you know in your community that are suffering and maybe chronic pain support groups would be a good place to start because I'm about out of my mind and at my wit's end with it and I'm just about going broke with these facilities that won't accept insurance plus if I pay a bunch of money then they don't give me anything for the pain or anything that works then I'm out of that money. I do think we should all stick together inform some type of foundation to fight back because it is not right and I personally do not Advocate people committing suicide over the pain but I understand completely why anyone would feel like going over the edge.

Has anyone else ever felt that way or lost someone because of it because I had an in-law to commit suicide who did have a lot of pain problems but that wasn't all but I am close enough to that subject that I know how it feels so I can't even talk to this person about what I'm going through right now because they're gone. I'm just saying if anyone at all has any suggestions on a doctor, a foundation, a group, website, whatever, please let me know. We need to connect because there's so many people out here who are suffering needlessly and when you'r medical profession fails you then who are you going to turn to for your care? Peace.

@Darry, I'd be concerned if I were you because if you just go see a doctor and ask for a specific drug then that will raise an eyebrow. You should not be specifically asking for Oxycodone. Instead you should be looking to find proper pain management with a doctor who can assess your condition and put you on an appropriate treatment plan. Be willing to jump through some hoops these days. But I'm sorry to say that when you come off as just asking for a specific drug it just doesn't look good.

People on this page should be figuring out the best strategies for the long term treatment of pain instead of just asking "how can I get this drug". I don't get it.

There is someone in my family that is really messed up and his dr. quit writing meds as he retired. Live in the Augusta, GA. area and he has all of his records to give to Dr. if needed.

Knotts, I don't understand why people don't get it either. They seem to believe that they have a right to the pain meds they want at the dose they want because they have been prescribed it by a previous dr. They also have some uneducated belief that the U.S. Constitution guarantees it. I guess they have read something on the internet about a Patients Bill Of Rights and without actually reading a Patients Bill Of Rights and little education, they think that is the same thing as the Bill Of Rights. They think having their pain addressed is the same as being prescribed pain meds. A Patients Bill Of Rights does not guarantee a patient pain meds.

Each dr treats their patients they way they think they should be treated. Drs don't treat patients the same way another dr has, unless they determine that is what is best for the patient.

Yeah BL, I see all kinds taking the wrong approach unfortunately. I can truly empathize with what many patients are going through, how scary it can be to find a new doctor, and especially having to stop taking a medication that has been effective at treating the pain for so long. But the misconceptions that you mentioned can actually work against a patient these days. That's the problem. Going in and asking for a specific drug but discounting the fact that the doctor has to follow protocols and use their best judgement to decide what treatment plan is appropriate.

So I think the question we all need to be asking is how doctors and patients can meet each other in the middle. A patient SHOULD tell the doctor what medications they have taken in the past, how they responded, etc. But don't back the doctor into a corner by requesting a specific drug. Let them figure it out for themselves otherwise they could feel like they're in a position where they just prescribed a drug at a patient's request, which can land them in hot water. Is the difference clear? A doctor prescribing a drug on their own is THEIR treatment plan. A doctor prescribing that same drug at a patient's request is a pill mill as far as the DEA is concerned. It is truly a razor's edge!

I wish everyone would be pain free. But please everyone do the best you can to get the right treatment. Disclaimer ... i'm not a doctor but i've seen plenty and taken many different meds in my time.

Okay where do I start... I am 32 years old and I have chronic pain like no other first of all I had three major surgeries uterine colon and bladder prolapse uterine colon and bladder suspension 12 inches of my colon removed I have chronic back pain neck pain I have arthritis carpal tunnel autoimmune disorder I've been paid on a daily basis so much that I barely I have a life and I've lived with these issues for a long long time at least 10 years is anybody know of a doctor that will prescribe oxycodone is buprenorphine Subutex.? Because of how long I've been in pain I've tried just about everything there is to try to relieve my pain I even went years 5 years without taking anything and it was the worst time of my life then I finally found a doctor that was willing to experiment with medications and put me on buprenorphine Subutex and Oxycodone 10 milligrams and for the first time in my life I felt normal for three years I was on that medication and then the doctor stop prescribing it together because the FDA doesn't believe that the two medications can go together I believe that Subutex blocks oxycodone look for me I know that's not true for the first time in my life I felt normal I could deal with my pain and have a life. Is there anybody that can help me find a doctor that can prescribe medications together

Knotts , a copy of the patients medical records should indicate if a particular med works well. But, that doesn't mean a new dr will agree to the same meds.

I suffer chronic pain, MY PAIN is non stop 24/7. Some days I cry from the constant agony of the pain, along with the thought of, why do I have to suffer like this, it feels so n humane. Some days I can get out of my house on these days I pay for the next week , because I had to force myself to get out and try and move around :'-( Please help me find a Dr who will prescribe Pain medication to me. I am fatal allergic to Tylenol, even been in the ER having a reaction to the medication given with Tylenol; finally on my list it states Tylenol and acetaminophen is fatal.. I'm so depressed and angry ever day, I am scared to think the rest of my days I'm going to live in torture. I'm 43 who took a bad fall. Herniated disk, my neck vertebrae has 3 disks slipped, both heal spurs, sciatic nerve pain, lower n upper severe burning pain in my back...Please help! I get inj's. they only minimize the pain for a few days :-(

Elizabeth, have you gotten a copy of your medical records from the ER and read them ? If you have and they indeed state that you have life threatening reaction to Tylenol ( acetaminophen) have you taken them to your doctor ? Chances are it is the medication that you were given that also contains Tylenol and not the Tylenol it's self that you are allergic to.

Yes my doctor sent me to the ER as she was on call and could not see me that day, she told me to tell them in the ER my allergies and definitely Tylenol , I explained this to the ER and they brought me 2 Tylenol , basically saying just what you had mentioned! So I trusting the Dr and his medical advice took the Tylenol and wih in half hour /45 minutes my breathing was out of control , rash all over my body ,hives needles to say I ended up with an O2 mask on .. My pulse was very high , the response front the ER was so insulting , as the very words said to me was ,oh my goodness I quess your PCP was correct and you did tell us you were allergic !!
I was so livid scared and crying so hard , I left ! Saw my regular Dr the next day and she called the ER right from our office visit !
When it sais Fatal from my PCP and in my charts had shown I had had the same reaction prior , thus being why it states fatal on my allergy to Tylenol !!!

Elizabeth, see a Pain Management Dr and take a copy of your medical records from your pcp stating that you are allergic to tylenol. There are plenty of pain meds without tylenol in them. But, in all honesty, it more than likley is the other med you were given and not the tylenol. The only way to know for sure is to take Tylenol only. Your pcp should have known the ER would not believe what you said. ER's don't usually have access to medical records from drs that treat outside the hospital.

For anyone on or looking to get methadone, STOP TAKING IT, DON'T USE IT, IT'S A KILLER. I took methadone for little over 4,years. That poison destroyed my stomach, intestine, and hard telling what else its done to my other organs. I took 100 to 125 mgs for that period of time.It also caused my esophagus to almost close shut called a structure which means narrowing, made it hard to swallow anything, even water.

I'm dying from this poison. I STOPPED OVER TWO YEARS AGO AND IT WAS JUST NOT SOON ENOUGH. IT'S VERY PAINFUL. ALSO THE DOCTOR WHO WENT DOWN INTO MY STOMACH SAID HE SEES THIS ALL THE TIME IN PEOPLE WHO ARE TAKING METHADONE. TELL ANYONE YOU CAN and most important NEVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU DIFFERENT.

ITS A DEATH SENTENCE. ALSO IT TOOK BASICALLY ONE YEAR TO GET OVER THE WITHDRAWALS AND SIDE EFFECTS, IF NOT CONVINCED LOOK INTO IT.

Listen, ask your Pharmacist if you can take the 2 drugs together, as they usually know mORE about drugs than the Doc, however I know you STILL need a script. Also, ask the pharmacist who prescribes these or perhaps which pain clinic does (they usually tell you). If one doesn't, ask the pharmacy manager or another pharmacy. Be vigilant & if you keep getting told they can't or they are NOT good together, then I guess I wouldn't keep trying if they are dangerous!! As far as the carpel tunnel, get the surgery! If you go to a HAND SURGEON, they do this all the time-and they are the experts doing a lot of this surgery, it will NOT come back. Some people go to surgeons that are NOT HAND DOCTORS & they are not as good.. You want a hand specialty Doctor so it will not come back! Go to hand therapy after for 2 weeks or so & you WILL be good as new. Don't wait forever because it just makes the surgery worse. It was the easiest surgery ever! You will probably need a "pain clinic" because you have to go every month to get percocet & others.Good luck to you!

KAY, a hand surgeon cannot guarantee that carpal tunnel won't come back. What is important is how long the carpal tunnel has needed surgery. If a patient waits too long it doesn't matter who does the surgery, it will come back soon. It is a simple surgery and many surgeons don't even put the patient to sleep. But carpal tunnel surgery, like any other surgery does have it's risks.

I was going to a Dr that ended up getting his license pulled, and I have 3 ruptured vertebraes and spinal stinosis,and I also have a heart condtion called long qt that has required a pacemaker and a icd put in me. Now that the Dr that I was seeing got his licensed pulled I'm not getting the meds I was getting that had finally got my quality of life better which was only 2 10 mg oxycodone and 3 1 mg ativan and I can't find a Dr to take me in plus I don't have insurance. I need help desperately getting in a doctor.

Ashley Slatton, if your state expanded Medicaid you can apply for Medicaid. You aren't going to be able to find a dr that is going to prescribe you oxycodone and ativan. You may be able to see a psychiatrist for the ativan and a pain management dr for the oxydodone. If you aren't eligible for Medicaid, you will have to pay to sse your drs
