Need Dr. In Ky For Fioricet Prescription
(Newest replies first)

I live in the Richmond Ky area. Just moved here a few years ago and since I cannot get fioricet online anymore for my headaches and fibromyalgia pain, am having extreme trouble finding a dr willing to prescribe. Does anyone have a dr willing to prescribe it anywhere in the Lexington, Richmond or Irvine area? I have no life dealing with the pain without them.

Hello!! Were you ever able to find a doctor in Lexington willing to prescribe this? I have been on this for my migraines for years as well and just moved to Lexington, needing to find a Doctor.
Bcareful Suzy Q... My BESTEST best friend od on those 2 1/2 years ago on those... It shud b pretty easy to get them... He had over 800 of them...
It's just that barbiturates have failed out of favor, due to the discovery of safer and more effective medications.
I understand that it works for you, I"m not trying to argue that, at all, I'm just explaining why it might not be so easy to get someone to prescribe it for you.
Do you currently have a PCP that might be able to help you, or refer you to another doctor that can?
I do not have migraines, I have tension headaches. I have tried just about every alternative therapy there is and it hasn't helped. I've taken fioricet for years with no side effects. I am fully aware it contains a barbiturate, so what? It's a combo drug and not considered a controlled substance by anybody except the state of Kentucky.
Hello, SuzyQ! How are you?
Well, it does contain the barbiturate Butalbital, which has sometimes been abused, so this medication is usually only prescribed as a last resort, when other options have failed.
Additionally, if you go to a doctor and ask for a specific medication, they are taught to see that as being drug seeking behavior, so they will always be very reluctant to prescribe it. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, stomach irritation, nervousness and insomnia.
What type of doctors have you been trying? You might do better with a neurologist, since they have the training to deal with migraines, what causes them and how to alleviate them.
Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?
