Nausea From Dilaudid Andfentanyl (Top voted first)

My wife takes 4-8mg dilaudid a day and is on 125 mcg/h fentanyl patch she is having really bad nausea

She is taking to much narcotic! She is lucky she isn't overdosed. You will never get rid of all you pain, period! It is a fine balance between pain control and quality of life. i would reduce to 4 mg and you can break the 8's in half. They are not time released if labeled Dilaudid or hydromorphone! Chronic Pain Patient from Florida who can't find anyone to fill my 8mg Dilaudid!

I have a lot of experience with Dilauded, and this side-effect is very common. I recommend Gravol Suppsitories, they'll take away the nausea without interfering with her pain treatment.

That can be a normal side effect of opiate medications, as reported by the FDA, they can also cause dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and constipation.

However, her doctor should be able to prescribe something to help prevent the nausea, many people require such a thing, when taking such medications. Dilaudid always makes me sick, so I hate if I'm given it in the the ER, or hospital.
