Hello, Patricia! How are you?
The Butalbital with Acetaminophen and Caffeine isn't a narcotic, it's a barbiturate. It is most commonly used to treat migraines and its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, insomnia and nervousness.
Tramadol, however, is classified by the FDA as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Have they both been prescribed for you?
Taking them both together could cause more sedation than normal, so your doctor should be monitoring you regularly. You should also know to watch for any possible danger signs, such as severe drowsiness, severe dizziness and trouble breathing.
Yes they have both been prescribed for me
Barbiturates ARE NARCOTICS. Probabbly before your time but Tuinal, Seconal, amiobabital were ALL barbs and alllNarcs as is Phenobarbital.
Hey RB, where in the HELL do you get your information? You COULD NOT be more wrong! Barbiturates ARE NOT NARCOTICS! ! Read that again, and then again! Why don't you do a simple bit of research before spewing your nonsense?
I don't know if this is addressing the post, but Tuinal and Seconal are mentioned. It's been close to 40 years since I got my hands on those, are they still prescribed? I settle for my little Ambien now. I know, totally different, but they work for the purpose they're given. I think a barbiturate would probably be too much of a hangover at this stage in my life.
Pudman56,
I read your reply and just had to LOL I remember the Good old days when those barbs were frequently rxd for sleep.yeah, I think Ambien is a bit safer as we advance in years no doubt :)
Footnote: they still manufactor butibarbital and Seconal.butisol is somewhat affordable but secanol will set you back 945.00 for 30 caps at the local Walmart pharmacy lol
Take good care, Kenie....
RB,
As HOUSE correctly answered - The DEA classes only opium, opium derivatives, and synthetic opioids, along with coke and coca leaves as narcotics.
In general conversation, barbiturates are often lumped together with other drugs of abuse under the (inaccurate) label. Barbiturates are central nervous system depressants, and share some common effects with narcotics. They are not technically narcotics, but hypnotics or sedatives.
Hey Ricky, NO! Effexor is an anti depressant. Definitely NOT a narcotic, not even close!
