Naproxen Sodium Used To Treat Bacterial Vaginosis

I have BV and dont wanna go to doctors when I already know what it is. I have had it before. I am just wondering if Naproxen Sodium can be used to treat the BV. Since BV is not an infection and just an inflammation I figured maybe it could help.

Hi Brittany,

If BV is an inflammation and not an infection, I would definitely see that Naproxen would be a good choice over other types of prescription drugs. It happens to be one of the few drugs out there without a bad reputation. One article I've come across however, does regard BV to be a type of infection.

"Bacterial vaginosis typically features a reduction in the number of the normal hydrogen peroxide-producing lactobacilli in the vagina. Simultaneously, there is an increase in concentration of other types of bacteria, especially anaerobic bacteria."
Reference: medicinenet.com/bacterial_vaginosis/article.htm

For this reason I would also suggest supplementing with probiotics and implementing more fruits and vegetables into the diet if you haven't done so already. This will help prevent the condition from coming back. If you want to take even more preventative measures I would recommend looking into Essential Oils or herbs, such as Oregano oil, Clary sage, and many others.

I hope this helps!
