Naproxen Side Effects Long Term
UpdatedI took Naproxen for three days for an ankle sprain. The first two days were fine, but on the third day I ended up in urgent care because of the side effects: splitting headache, dizziness, terrible rash, elevated pulse and stomach cramps. Needless to say I stopped taking Naproxen.
The next day I was much improved, but still had the headache, dizziness and elevated pulse. Since then, things have been more or less the same. Sometimes the headache and dizziness are terrible, sometimes mild. My pulse is always elevated, but sometimes by a lot. On the 12th day after stopping Naproxen, I had a blackout.
It's now been 16 days since I stopped Naproxen, and I'm concerned that it's gone beyond the point of waiting for the drugs to clear my system. Unfortunately, I'm really broke right now and really can't afford to go to the doctor, especially if all I'm going to hear is that it can take x number of months for Naproxen to get out of your system.
So my question is: Does anybody know how long the side effects can last? Should I keep waiting and hoping I get better or am I looking at a situation where the drug caused long term damage?

The typical side effects would not last that long, after you've stopped it. It usually only takes a few days, especially since you weren't on it for very long. The FDA lists the most common ones as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.
Thus, it definitely sounds like you have something else going on here and need to have it checked out.
How high is your pulse going?
