Naproxen 500mg For 2 Weeks ???

my doctor prescribed me this medication for menstrual cramps & he recommended to take it daily for 2 weeks, why should i take it for 2 weeks when my period will bother me only for 2 days?

Probably as a preventative, the symptoms that cause menstrual cramping actually start to build up for awhile, before the bleeding actually starts.
