Naltrexone And Kratom (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI've been taking approximately 6g of kratom every 4 to 6 hours for about 2 years now. I want to use a weight loss medication which contains naltrexone but wonder if it will cause withdrawal sickness because of my kratom use?
Re: Lisa (# 8)
How did u start the naltrexone with the kratom? I got a shot of vivatrol this morning for the first time. I took kratom yesterday and I’m feeling cold shivery shaky super tired I’m FREEZING!! Help! So I tried to take another dose of kratom to help the physical effects I don’t know what to do
Re: Sage (# 4)
Happend to me yesterday. Wish I would know I got the s***. Worst 24 hours of my life. Luckily today I'm much better.
First of all, yes you could. Depending on dosages and the frequency of your doses. Now, the withdrawal phenomenon will depend on which opioid receptors Kratom will bind to. That will determine rather or not you may experience withdrawal.
Re: Sage (# 4)
I wish I would have seen this Friday or before... started Contrave Friday and was not informed, despite telling my Dr I used kratom for pain management, that the 2 didn't mix. I'm on day 4 of withdrawal symptoms, since I was still unaware I shouldn't be taking them both together until Saturday evening.
I take 0.5 mg LDN in the morning, then I take 35 mg total of oxycodone spread throughout the day, my last dose (10mg) is usually around eight or 9 PM, and I usually wake up between 6 and 8 AM and take the LDN right away, then I wait a few hours and I take either 5 or 10 mg oxy depending on my pain level, the next dose at 2 or so. I’ve been doing this since March 2020 and I have no problems at all, except one morning when I accidentally took the LDN twice (1mg total) I had some opiate withdrawals, so I just took an extra 5 mg of oxycodone and I chilled on the couch for a couple hours, and I was fine.
You should talk to your doctor, I don’t know what your dose in Kratom works out to be in Opioid milligrams, but it was pain management who gave me the LDN prescription. I really wanted to try it for chronic fatigue, but I couldn’t quit the oxycodone in the winter when my joint pain is the worst, and he told me I didn’t have to if I was willing to try it, and I was, and it was fine. He told me the doses of both were low enough but he told me the LDN would mess with my sleep if I took it at night, so I don’t. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. It’s fantastic. My hair is even growing back in the thin spots which is weird because I thought the thinning hair was age related. Anyway, I would talk to your doctor, whoever gave you the LDN prescription. I’m pretty sure the worst thing that would happen was that you would feel some opiate withdrawals and I don’t even know how much that happens from Kratom anyway.
Oh I just wanted to add, you will probably get diarrhea once or twice every day after you take the LDN. For me it stopped on the seventh day, and for another girl I know who had diarrhea from LDN her stopped on the seventh day as well. I assumed mine was sort of withdrawals because of the I’ll be a blocker, but I don’t think she was taking anything that would have done that. So if that happens try to ride it out for a week.
Re: Jojo (# 1)
I take pain medication with my Elianne, I typed out a longer response to the OP so I won’t repeat myself here, Innoway I feel like the LDN helps the pain pill work a little better, especially if I choose not to take the LDN that day if I really need the pain medication to work, but it’s weird it makes me like OB at naïve almost. Like when I first started taking pain medication it made me kind of nauseous and it would make me constipated, but after a while my body got used to it and it’s fine. Except on the days I don’t take the LDN I have a little nausea and constipation with the pain medication. I really think it could be used to help people not build a tolerance when they’re on long term opioids, but I don’t have any medical background so that’s just my anecdotal experience.
Re: DAnigirl (# 18)
Hope it worked because I did same thing and 12 hours later took another dose trying to relieve the withdrawls
Re: Jojo (# 1)
From studies at University of Florida ( best known kratom research doc, forgot name) kratom uses delta , mu-opioid receptors. Narcan blocks mu-opioid receptors which block pain. The delta receptors deal with depression
Re: sctshgal (# 6)
Narcan blocks the uptake of opioid (Kratom) from the mu-opioid receptors
Re: Marjorieson (# 32)
Sure if you take 50 mg, I think it’s a low-dose in that medication. I take low-dose naltrexone and I take oxycodone all day. My LDN dose is only 0.5 mg, I take it first thing in the morning and then I wait a couple hours before I take the first oxycodone. I take my last oxycodone at 8 PM so there are like 10 hours between that and the low-dose naltrexone, it works out fine for me.
Re: Optimistic (# 26)
I take ldn 1.5 at 6 am before i leave work then kratom after 1 pm up till midnight and its a great combo no withdrawls at the low ldn dose but be careful at the 50 mg naltrexone that might be bad!
Do not take Naltrexone while on Kratom!!! I learned a very hard lesson, and it was the most terrifying experience of my life. I spent five hours in urgent care.
Re: Christian (# 22)
You are 100% wrong! Do not take!
Re: Chris (# 21)
The medical field is very uneducated on the dangers of Kratom. and so was I. I had been taking it for about a year for energy. When I was prescribed naltrexone, I became deathly ill. I have been sick for nine days. Thankfully I am off Kratom but it is not the way I would have chose to do it. I will never touch the stuff again.
Re: April (# 39)
Ok but that was because of the interaction between the naltrexone and the Kratom, that doesn’t mean Kratom is dangerous.
Would this be the same going from Kratom to a low dose Butrans patch?
Re: Sage (# 4)
THIS JUST HAPPENED TO ME!!! my wife handed me "a pill to calm me for sleep", turns out it was straight up 50mg Naltrexone. I THOUGHT I WAS DYING, I ended up in the ER on 24 hr injectable Ativan....Dude I was on a two year twice a day 6-8gm Kratom dose. I elected to never touch the stuff again after this. I also came back positive in the drug screen for opioids, and i swear all i had taken was Kratom. What a wake up call.
Naltrexone: It acts as an opioid antagonist. Naltrexone works to block the effects of opioids. It is neither sedative nor addictive. Kratom acts as a stimulant and in high doses, it works as a sedative. The pain killer properties of the drug are also due to its interaction with the opioid receptors in the brain. The metabolization of Naltrexone takes place in the liver so there are high chances of hepatic toxicity. Therefore, the doses must be reduced if a person has some hepatic problem.
How long after getting vivitrol can you feel the effects of Kratom??
