There are a lot of individuals who report some horrible side effects from Chantix, but it sounds like your doing great! Have you experienced any bad side effects from this drug?
My dad has been smoking for over 40 years, but he decided to cold turkey it just this year and stick it out. He had about a week or so of cold-like symptoms and sleeping it off, but now it has been 7 weeks and he hasn't craved or touched a cig since! And after 40+ years of chronic smoking, that's really saying something. I'm only mentioning this in light of letting others know that going cold turkey on smoking cigs is possible and is all about mind over matter; even if its also a physical dependance, it can be done it you believe that it can be done. If you have any doubts in your mind that you can't cold turkey it, then you are right that you can't do it. Thanks to the media, many people believe that it can't be done without the help of other medications.
Not trying to discourage you or anyone else using these methods to aid in quitting, but just informing that it's not one of those things you must do in order to quit. Granted, everyone is different and some people can't get in the right mindset to take control of their addiction, but acupuncture is another very effective (quick) treatment option, and I know this because I've seen it first hand with my mother who used to smoke for about 10 years.
I hope this information can be of help to others who are trying to quit smoking.
