Norco Shortage In Houston, Tx (Top voted first)
UpdatedMy husband suffers from sciatica and has suffered from it for at least 10 years. He has had 2 major invasive back surgeries to release pressure off of his sciatic nerve. The second surgery got him off of the floor and enabled him to function but only with the help of Norco and Tylenol and Ibuprofen. For some reason there is NO Norco available in Houston or the surrounding suburbs at this time. Does anyone know what is going on?

I am sorry to hear this as as I also suffer from sciataca and also live in Houston. I was just about to start reaching out to forums such as this one to look for Vicodin or Norco as my doctor put me on Norco but it cannot stop the pain. Can you let me know if you find anyone? my sympathy goes out to all Sciataca sufferers.
Unfortunately, this happens yearly, and is very frustrating for most people that have to take pain medications regularly. The DEA sets certain allotments for each manufacturer every year, once they reach that allotment, they have to stop manufacturing, for the time being. They can go through a procedure to request they be allowed to manufacture more due to demand, but as with anything involving red tape, that can take awhile. Some of the reasons the DEA does this are covered on their website in this 2018 Controlled Substances document.
I honestly cannot remember a year where this hasn't resulted in a shortage of most opiate medications.
The best suggestion I can offer is speaking to your doctor to see if they can prescribe an alternative medication that is in stock.
Does anyone else have any ideas that may help?
