They are time released, so cutting the tablets is actually not safe, because it could result in your getting too much of the mediation, at once.
If you want o lower your dosage, you should consult your doctor about doing so, they can prescribe lower dosage tablets, or ones that are in a different formulation that would be safe for you to cut up, as needed.
