Mycitracin is used in the prevention of infection and speeding the healing of wounds.
From what I was able to gather this has to be prescribed by a doctor.
Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do.
Crtstal- Thank You, I will ask my doctor.
Hooey. It's an OTC ointment. If it now requires a prescription, it's just JJ wracheting up consumer costs needlessly. Used to be available at Walgreens and Eckerd and a most stores with first aid sections. I'm looking too, so if you find it, please let me know.
yes please let me know as well I am a diebetic and this stuff works wonders with sores of all types and sizes luckly I just found an almost full tube when I was cleaning out my med cabinet
From what I understand. Mycitracin was a name brand of Upjohn Labratories. Pfizer now owns the line under one of it's many subcompanies. Due to the fact it was a name brand, they had to use another name. Neosporin triple antibiotic contains the same ingredients as Mycitracin. I will agree with you, in that the Mycitracin always seemed to do the better job.
Neosporin Triple contains all but one ingredients that Mycitracin Plus has. That ingredient is Pramoxine HCI. Pramoxine HCI relieves pain and inflammation associated with minor burns and sunburn as well as pain from minor cuts and scratches. That is why Mycitracin works so well to relieve pain. Pramoxine HCI should not be put in the mouth, it should not be swallowed.
You don't get this from a doctor. It is bought over the counter. This was the best ointment you could buy. If they still make it I would love to know where I can get it. Thanks
Mycitracin has been used in our family for at least 45 years. I was looking for it also because I agree with everyone at how well it works. The last tube I had was manuf. by Clay-Park. After a little searching I found same product by Good Sense with the same ingredients. Bought some on Amazon today! Hope this helps.
Re: Lenore (# 6)
