I have chronic lower back pain for years.I took a random drug test in September 2013.The perscriptions I take are oxycodone, oxycotin, trazadone, effexor xr valuim and excedrin. Test came back positive for vicodin.I am not a drug addict, but they definitly made me feel like one.I was so embarresed. It wasn't my Doctor,it was his assistant making these comments. She was so rude. It just so happened my Doctor was out of the country. In October 2013 I received my regular perscriptions. My appointment,November 13,2013. This is when she gave me a perscription to wean me off without me getting a chance to speak to my Dr. I would like to know do I have the right to speak to him? Never once did I speak to him about a drug test. IN no way would I take something that wasn't perscribed. If for any reason I thought my test would come back like this I would refuse to take it.What is going to happen to me, I'll be in pain the rest of my life.I'm very worried about this. The drug she gave me to wean me off is Percocet. Isn't percocet oxycodone? Please help me out with this . I would appreciate it if anyone could give me any suggestions

Yes, percocet is oxycodone. By all means you should be able to talk to your doctor about your treatment. It sounds like you got a false positive for Vicodin which is hydrocodone. I am assuming it was a urine drug test but was it a lab test or a rapid screening test like you can buy over the counter?? If it was a rapid screening test and it was a positive they should send it out to a lab for a GC/MS confirmation test. GC/MS is the "gold standard" for drug testing. You should insist on talking to your doctor and if he won't see you could either dump him and find a new DR or file a complaint with your state medical board.
