I truly believe this medication caused my husband death. He was an active man age 74 and avid golfer (3-4 x week). It seemed to be the go to drug when he had pneumonia because of his COPD problem. He had taken it many times prior to his death and developed polymyalgia rehumatic and was on steroid's for several months. He was taken to the ER on 10-1-14 and yes they gave him Levaquin again for 10 days and sent him home. He was taken back to the ER on 10-16-14 with kidneys not functioning, couldn't breathe or walk. He passed away on 10-26-14.

Hello, Judi! How are you doing? I am so very sorry for your loss. I'd be devastated to lost the love of my life, I can't imagine how horrible you must feel.

Was that the only medication he was on?

Levaquin is classified by the FDA as an antibiotic and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, diarrhea and tendon damage.

However, it does carry a warning that it shouldn't be taken by someone with liver or kidney disease.

Was he still on steroids, when he passed?

Was this helpful? 0
