My doctor switched me from 1-2 tabs of norco 10/325 every 4-6 hours to 20- 40 ml of liquid 2.5mg/5ml every 4-6 hours - is it the same amount of norco? I know it has more tylenol in it but am I getting the same dosage of the norco?

Well, first allow me to explain that Norco is a brand name for a medication that contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, it is not actually the name of the narcotic ingredient you are asking about.

That said, if it contains 2.5mgs of the Hydrodocone per 5ml, then 20mls would contain 10mgs, this would be equal to the amount in one of the tablets you used to take.

That would also mean that if you use 40mls, you'd be taking 20mgs of Hydrocodone, or equal to 2 of the tablets that you used to take.

The main differece though, between a liquid and a tablet is that with the liquid medications, your body actually absorbs more of the active ingredients. So by doing this, you should actually get better pain control, than you did with the tablets, even though the mgs of the Hydrocodone is the same.

This may mean you experience more side effects such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation.

You can read about the medication here:
