My Brothers Friend Picked Up My 2 Hard Copies

My brother's friend went to my doctor's office and picked up my two hard copies prescription 4 120 Percocet he dropped one prescription off at the pharmacy and took off with 120 pills I went and made a police report and had to wait 5 days with no meds until I can get the police report
Now he still has possession of the second prescription that can be filled 14 days from the date it was filled prior now a detective has the case is this normal?
I did nothing wrong
Trying to say prescription fraud?
I have no idea what prescription fraud is can you please help me

We are always the one they blame!! We're all looked at as addicts rather than people with legitimate, horribly painful diseases!! I thought that prescriptions for narcotics can be flagged and made invalid now??? Your Dr should be able to do that and then give you a new one!! Unless he's like mine and assumes you're lying...which a lot do now since DEA crackdown....the Drs are more worried about their licenses than helping pain patients because of the government blaming us for the opiate problem in the world. Buckle up. I think it's going to get even worse for those of us who truly suffer!!!

I got my meds back once i got a police report..
I was not involved at all
He took off with one bottle
And has my 2nd rx paper copy
I told my dr to cx void that rx as i dont have it
I am on camera at the pharmacy as well
I was in shock...
All they need in CA is a name and DOB which is on the rx...
I will.never trust anyone again lesson learned
I just don't understand what it means by fraud???

Generally, what he did would be considered fraud and is a felony. Fraud is considered to be any time you misrepresent yourself, someone else, or something, in order to cheat someone else, including a pharmacy. In this case, he misrepresented himself to the pharmacy to get prescriptions that were not written for him. (I'm going by U.S. law for this description.)

As an example, I can legally go to the pharmacy and pick up prescriptions for my husband, he can do the same for me. However, if we stole prescriptions and misrepresented ourselves, plus did not actually give that person the legally prescribed medication, that would be considered fraud.

You would not be guilty of fraud, in this case, unless you helped in some way, or if you were trying to get multiple prescriptions filled for the same medication, to sell it, or abuse it. In this case, based on what you've said, the thief is the one that has committed fraud.

When it comes to controlled substances, I really think pharmacies should start requiring photo ID.

Yes,
Took me a week to get the police report,
I took it to my dr, i finally got another rx...
No idea he got away w 120
My dr now is able ti submit it electronically so I do not have to go pick up hard copies.
Which makes it easier on myself as i work 7 days straight and am not able to always get to the drs office before they close.
