My Son Is 3 And Half Year Old He Suffering From Blader Extrophy Doctor Advised Him To Give Septran Syrup For One What Are The Benefits Side Effects

my son aged 3 years & 8 month suffering from Blader extrophy , he is giving depsonil tablets ( dose half morning & half evening) , now doctor advised to start septran syrup , one table spoon at night, please tell me what will be the benefit by starting septran for blader extrophy patient & what will be the side effects, as when i give him septran , he also takes iron suppliment with it, he feel redness at one year , he is coughing, what anti alergy drugs can be given if any symptoms arised.

Septran contains the active ingredients Sulfamethoxazole withTrimethoprim, commonly prescribed in the U.S. under the brand name Bactrim, it is an antibiotic, it is used to treat or prevent infections.

If your son has bladder extrophy, this means that part or all of his bladder is in the wrong spot, usually outside of the abdominal wall, so his risk of infection is very high, which is why they want him to use this.

Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and skin rash.

And, with such medical conditions, I wouldn't advise giving him anything for the cough, or allergies, without first consulting his doctor. Some antihistamines can cause urinary retention, which could be dangerous with this medical condition.
