My Oxycontin 20mg Wears Off Before 12 Hours
UpdatedHas anyone else noticed that OxyContin 20mg wears off before 12 hours? I'm waiting for the extended relief pain meds to take effect and it doesn’t last for 12 hours.

They’ve never lasted 12 hours since they were brought to market. That was how they flooded the streets. Doctors knew they didn’t last 12 hours so they would prescribe an extra here and there. Now I think they give people oxycodone for break through pain.
They destroyed Oxycontin in 2009 with the rock hard polymer that was added to create the worthless OP version that works maybe 5 to 8 hours if you're lucky. Once the pill gets past the proton pumps in your stomach nothing will metabolize the pill any further... Prudue knew this, but no one cared how the pill worked just as long as drug addicts didn't like it anymore! So much for the actual suffering patients that it was created for...
Then in 2014 the government got big pharma to remove the chemical matrix that caused oxytocin to be releases from the pituitary gland in all opioids further destroying the analgesic effectiveness of these medications! All hoopla the anti drug people make against oxycontin is 11+ years late to the game, all other opioids 6+ years late to the game and shows just how clueless they really are! The real facts are NO OPIOIDS in America any longer have the chemical matrix that causes oxytocin to be released from the pituitary gland. That made ALL OPIOIDS analgesic effectiveness 70% to 75% LESS, but don't worry... Nobody cares except the suffering patients and their families! The people who have committed suicide so far who could no longer live in unimaginable pain because the government destroyed the analgesic effectiveness of opioids are an exceptable loss to these criminal jackels, who should be charged with voluntary manslaughter!
They do not work well for everyone that takes them, it also possible that you might need a higher dose to gain better pain control.
The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
Are you on any other medications? Many times, an instant release is coupled with a time release to help more with pain.
Approximately how long as they lasting?
Re: Mark (# 2)
The plastic contins scare me. Someone on this blog awhile back was saying that she had a clump of them stuck in her that passed but she was lucky she didn’t accidentally overdose if they dissolved before they passed.
I didn’t believe her, but opiates can cause gastroparesis, and that can cause bezoars, google medication bezoars and look at the images.
The plastic pills aren’t safe & they don’t work well. I went back to regular oxycodone and I am so much better off.
