My Modafinil Prescription Is Not Affordable And Now I Have To Detox From It (Page 2)
UpdatedI had been ordering Modafinil with the permission of my Psychiatrist for 5 years with no problem from 3 different overseas pharmacies. Last week I got a letter from U.S. Customs telling me they seized the most recent package, and I would be fined and federally prosecuted if I was caught doing it again. Now I have to go off of it. I have two weeks left. I heard the detox is terrible but my doctor said to just stop it. I have no choice. I have no where to get it. So I am advising one thing and asking one question: Please don't think you can't get caught buying drugs overseas! Be careful and think it through. I was lucky with just a warning! My question is has anyone ever detoxed off of 200 mgs. Modafinil twice a day, and what was it like?
Re: Gigi (# 16)
You misread the post I made earlier. I said Modafanil is NOT addictive like heroin, for example. Modafanil is a Schedule 4 drug and I have had no issues withdrawing from it. I know heroin is addictive and I have known a few heroin addicts. They withdrew from heroin but to say it was uncomfortable is putting it lightly.
I am suffering from narcolepsy and I am looking to fill a modafinil script. I see there are licensed canadian pharmacies dispensing it. Would you mind to connect?
I took 200 mgs of Modafanil twice a day and as far as I could see there was NO detoxing off of this medication. In the U.S. it is a Class 4 medication and mine was prescribed by my Doctor. I had to take two sleep tests in one month. Plus I was already on a CPAP machine. After some struggling and jumping through hoops I was made eligible for this medication and I have taken it for over 5 years. Recently, there is a new medication that was approved by the FDC and I have started to take that (Sunosi). There was never any detoxing from Modafanil and I moved seamlessly from Modafanil to Sunosi without ever having to detox from Modafanil with only a two day break between the two. I am not fully understanding which ingredients are in the U.S. prescribed medication and the overseas medication but if the two are similar there should be no detoxing from Modafanil. Btw, Sunosi is fine for me as long as I take the largest amount available which is 150 mgs. per day.
Re: Jeff (# 5)
Provigil has NEVER been outlawed in the United States as long as you have a prescription for it and get it through a licensed pharmacy in the United States. I think obtaining the drug overseas is the problem.
Re: Clara (# 20)
There is very little cost difference between the name brand and the generic. I thought when the patent expired that many would offer a generic version for a much cheaper price and AT THAT TIME there was only a small difference.
Re: cliff j (# 12)
All opiate based medication is addictive.
Your psychiatrist can write you a prescription for Modafinil, Teva is the best brand. $40.00 for 30 200 mg.
I realize this post is old, but, currently, I get a 3 months supply (90 tabs) from my GP. I have it filled at local pharm using GoodRx Gold membership. Cash price out the door WITHOUT GoodRx is almost $1000. With GoodRx, I pay just over $50.
Re: Robert (# 28)
If you're a Costco member, 30 tablets of modafinil 200mg is $19.99 at the Costco pharmacy. Not sure if that's an option for you (or anyone else - you do kind of need to be near a Costco...).
I don’t understand, if your psychiatrist is OK with you having it why doesn’t he just give you a prescription? Then you can use your health insurance? Or if your health insurance doesn’t cover it you can use one of those pharmacy coupons, even AAA gives a really good discount at chain pharmacies. When I didn’t have insurance my $90 prescription was only $30, but CVS told me some other patients got her $900 dog medication for $90 with the AAA discount.
This is weird. Yeah, generally black market medication is way more expensive than buying it the right way. Why doesn’t your prescriber just prescribe it for you?
Re: David (# 1)
Not even that, how do you know you’re even getting what you are paying for? It could be a bunch of crushed up crossroad pills or some fentanyl pressed to look like real pills. If this person has a psychiatrist there psychiatrist needs to prescribe the medication this is ridiculous.
Re: Candy (# 2)
I’m sorry but I can’t understand you being afraid to take Ritalin from a US pharmacy but you’re OK with buying black market pills that could be made with anything. Doesn’t add up sis.
Re: Roy (# 4)
No, no, they were buying it illegally and they are claiming their psychiatrist said it’s OK to take it.
Re: Jeff (# 5)
It’s not. I have a friend with narcolepsy that takes it every day. This person was just buying it illegally rather than getting a prescription for it.
Re: Penny (# 6)
I don’t know. I think we can legally order medication from Canada. I know that when I went to Mexico and bought medication over the counter down there I smuggled it back because I didn’t think it was OK to bring it back, and I wasn’t going to throw it away.
Re: BigPharmaMessingWithOurMeds (# 7)
The original poster who was buying it illegally making it sound like she was getting a prescription.
Re: cliff j (# 10)
Yes I have ordered items from a UK pharmacy that are not available in the United States but that are not a controlled substance and they arrived just fine.
Re: Gigi (# 16)
What are you talking about? They are saying that this medication does not have withdrawals like heroin does.
