My Doctor Messed Up My Prescriptions

I usually get sixty 5mg hydrocodone a month. Well this month when I went in I had a UTI so needed an antibiotic. My Dr messed up and gave me the amount of 30, that she was supposed to give of the antibiotic as my hydrocodone amount and then gave me 60 antibiotics instead of 60 hydrocodone. Well, I got my medications filled and my pharmacist tells me that she gave me 60 Bactrim and thought that was strange and asked me if I knew why and all I knew was I had a bad UTI. It still didn't make sense to her that I was given that many. Well, I got home and realized the mistake. I called my Dr office and they saw the mistake and I have to go back and get the other part of my pain medicine prescription. OK, I always fill ALL my medicine at the SAME pharmacy and do NOT like to go get one med somewhere else, especially if it's a narcotic or controlled substance. I know that can raise red flags so I am just snap about it. My Dr and pharmacy are like a half hour away from me. I don't want to have to get the other half of my pain med and have to take it somewhere else. I had got 30 for 2 times a day. I will not have a lot of money to go back and forth. Will my pharmacist be able to fix the problem with insurance, seeing I ALWAYS get the same thing every month or does the Dr have to do that???? I'm really pissed at my Dr because she does everything on her little computer now and can very easily click on the wrong amounts of meds or wrong dose. That could be dangerous, especially when I take other meds as well! So, is there a way to fix this and explain to Dr so I do NOT have to go running back and forth??

Always..and I mean always...check your prescriptions before you leave...
Call the Dr.and tell them to call the Pharmacy....they screwed that up, and it's easy to fix. You may have to go get the rest of the hydrocodone prescription though....seeing as it's Schedule 2 now.
It's ok. It can sometimes be hard to explain exactly how things happen. The good thing is, my Dr fixed her mistakes and I got the correct amount of my meds now!
I apologize for misunderstanding.
My Dr office themselves is fixing the problem since it was them who messed up my two prescriptions. I believe my question was misunderstood, but oh well, it's being fixed.
I don't see any pharmacy filling the second hydrocodone before you would have finished the first prescription. You may be able to get the second prescription filled a day ot two ahead of time, but there are no guarantees. I strongly recommend Against going to another pharmacy to get the hydrocodone filled. There really isn't anyway that anyone can force your insurance to approve the second prescription before it is due. You are fortunate that your dr hasn't referred you to a pain management dr. If you start trying to make waves about this, your dr may decide that it's time for a pain management dr.
