Muscle Pain Won't Go Away After Fall - Lipitor?
Updated2 months ago I tripped in the louse - fell - slammed both upper arms onto floor hard! Very sore for a week or so. a month later arms still hurt - went to Dr, who took xray and said said it was in the soft tissue. now it has been 2 months and arms still hurt! I have been on lipitor for about 5-6 months and wonder if that might be why? I do have fibromylgia so hurt most of the time but this is different. Could the lipitor be delaying healing and causing continued pain? I am thinking about stopping for awhiel to see if it helps.

Hello,
Interestingly enough, joint pain, as well as muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, are all side effects of Lipitor. So I think you are right in assuming that lipitor was delaying your healing time and causing continued pain.

I hope this info helps to answer your question! Is there anything else you could take in place of lipitor?
Muscle pain has recently been noted as a side effect of Lipitor. Some medications used to treat high cholesterol, like Lipitor or Caduet, were linked to some cases of myopathy, a muscle wasting disease. You should talk to your doctor about this.
The same thing is happening to me. I had one fall and hurt my right hip about six weeks ago and the pain seems worse now than it was when I did it. Then I fell outside on the ice and landed on my backside and injured my tailbone muscles and have some soft tissue damage in my left buttock, according to my doctor. There are lumps under the skin which will not go - this last fall was nearly four weeks ago. I have to have an ultrasound on this in a week or so. I thought things would be healing now, but I'm still in pain. I'm on Atorvastatin and wondered if this could be impeding my recovery. I would be grateful for any insight on this. I am female and 53 years old. I did mention it to the doctor, but she was very dismissive, without really answering my questions.
Lipitor is not a great drug to be on either. I have a couple of siblings and a friend who was on that drug and they had to get off of it because it affected their muscles. That is some nasty stuff and I will never go on it.
I was put on Lipitor for high cholesterol. It can cause your body to attack or eat the muscle fibers in your body. I'm not explaining it properly. Tell your doctor immediately about the pain so they can run a CPK test. Stands for Creatine protese kin* something. Shows protein being excreted in the urine I believe. But tell your doctor about the pain. I can't even take niacin because of that issue. And for me it took months before the pain lessened even though I wasn't on the meds for very long.
