Mrsa And Pain Management

I have gotten MRSA four times in the last three years, with two surgeries. My questions are: why do I keep getting the infection, also around the same time of year as the previous years had mrsa. Also, I have been on and off pain killers (oxycodone 5 mg) for the last three years and I believe I have gained somewhat of a tolerance for them. I do understand that improper use of prescription drugs is a huge problem and doctors are hesitant to prescribe them. But why is it that if I have to pay a huge doctor bill (100,000.00 just for the hospital bill the first time I got it) and I'm in a lot of severe pain the doctor won't give me the necessary dose or quantity of pain medication I need to be comfortable?

Hello, Stephen! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having.

Once you get an infection like MRSA, your body is always more susceptible to getting it, again. I'm not sure why, but I was warned about this last year, though they weren't sure that's what I had, but they wanted to make sure I knew that, just in case.

As to the pain medications, doctors prescribing practices are being very closely monitored by the DEA, so they have to be very careful and are directed to prescribe the bare minimum dosage, at first, and only raise it if necessary afterwards.

The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?
