Now whenever I swallow the morphine it burns my throat and I end up with my throat feeling swollen and very hoarse. If I try not to take it Im in trouble also. Is the coating something I could be sensitive too? ## Hello, Jackie! How are you? Yes, you may be reacting to the coating. Are you making sure to take each tablet with a full 8 ounce glass of water, unless you're on fluid restriction? I've sometimes experienced this with pills if my mouth was too dry, when I swallowed them. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, ...
Need a pain Dr. in Pittsburgh PA.. been taking MS Contin for awhile and want to stay on my treatment plan. ## Hello, Criss! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist. General practice doctors will not be able to prescribe it for you. And if you go in asking for a specific medication, they will view that as being drug seeking behavior. You'll need to set up an appointment with a new doctor and let your medical records speak for themselves. Once they can see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe accordingly. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be ha...
Can I ask my doctor for 40 ml OxyER in place of Morphine Sulfate 30ml ER or will they not prescribe them if I'm on 30ml ir Oxy ## Hello, Susie! How are you? It's just another form of Oxycodone, so they can be prescribed together and often are, but I have no way of knowing what your doctor will or will not do. If you have a problem with the Morphine, your best bet is to just discuss it with them and let them suggest a solution. Many times, they will view it as drug seeking if you ask for a specific medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Not at this time thank you for your help. I'm new at this just had 2 back surgeries that failed. My doctor only gives me 1 30 Oxy every 6 hours I wish could take 1every 4 hours. Afraid he will think I'm anbusing them but th...
I take 30# morphine, is it dangerous to take 2 at one time for extreme back pain? ## Morphine is very underwhelming taking two morphine 30 thirty milligrams would be very strong if are not opiate tolerant but you should start with one to see how that works it would be like you taking six hydrocodone if you take the two thirtys
I Take norco 10 usually 12 a day. I don't have any so I took a 30 mg morphine pill will it hurts if I took another 30 mg morphine 3 to 4 hours later ## Hello, Chris! How are you? Wow, that's a lot of Norco to take each day and well over the FDA limits for daily intake of Acetaminophen. They limit it to just 3,000mgs, due to the dangers of overdose toxicity, which can be fatal and possibly liver damage or failure. Is your doctor aware that you're taking that much? As to the Morphine, it is equivalent 1 for 1 to the Hydrocodone in the Norco, so each 30mg tablet is the same as taking 3 of the Norco and you shouldn't take more or take them more often, than your doctor has prescribed. Taking them too frequently could result in overdose. The FDA classifies this medication as a...
light blue round pill ABG on one side and 100 on the other... how often do I take it? ## Hello, Pio50ya! How are you? You should only take it as prescribed by your doctor. This tablet is manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 100mgs of Morphine in a time released formulation. It is usually taken every 12 hours. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
I am still trying to find a Dr. who will take over my Pain management contract in Arizona. I live in South Scottsdale. I have been in Pain Management for over 5 years because I am on a high dose of medication no Dr. wants to help me. If anyone out there can help me please. I was told my Dr. he was retiring In Dec. they gave his patients 3 week notice. I did find a Dr. he was willing to take me on as a patient. He wrote my scripts in January when I went back in Feb. he had his PA come in the room hand me a 30 day supply of my medication and told me I was being discharged because of the Dr. I was seeing. I was blown away. I called back after I calmed down and called the office the front desk girl said he decided he did not want to deal with my old Dr. patients and when a Dr. calls to veri...
Hi, I will be moving soon from Las Vegas, NV to Victorville, CA, & I need a doctor who will prescribe 180 Morphine Sulfate IR pills a month-I take 6 30 mg MSIR pills a day. I have 2 torn discs in my back, & nothing took away the pain except for the MSIR. I used to take the ER as well, but I have weaned completely off of the ER. I am working on weaning off the IR, as well, but I have an unexpected job opportunity in CA, & I can't wait until I can wean myself off of the IR. Thank you for your help! ## HI Jackie, Here is a link to a page with info about a few doctors in Victorville, CA who should be able to prescribe Morphine: healthtap.com/#find_a_doctor/by_known_for/Morphine/Victorville/CA I hope this helps, please post back if you have any more questions so I can further...
I was taking OxyContin 80 mg twice a day it is now no longer on my formulary the doctor switched from oxy to morphine extended release morphine extended release is the dark blue oblong pill generic version . This morphine generic does not work nearly as good as the oxy.. Is there other generics that are better than the current one that I'm taking? ## Hello, Donald! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. What are the markings on the Morphine tablet that you're taking? Do you know what the dosage is? Morphine is weaker than Oxycodone, so you'd actually need take 120mgs of it to be equivalent to each 80mgs of Oxycontin that you were taking. Thus, I'm concerned that you may not be on the correct dose. The FDA classifies this as a narcotic analgesic, so it h...
What doses do morphine patches come in and do morphine patches actually exsist. ## Hi. I know there is a strong opiod patch called Fentenyl. The available dose varies and I was told that this is the strongest form of opiod available. I was prescribed for a while and the patches last for 48-72 hrs before you need to change to a new one. Very easy to tale and I felt the least amount of paincompared to other types. I I've in V an ad a but I've read that Gentanyl with slight differences is in the USA as well. ## @Darby (original poster), I personally haven't heard of Morphine patches and do not think they exist. If they do make them, drug companies certainly aren't making any effort to market them. Post #1 had mentioned Fentanyl coming in the form of an opioid patch, and I b...
What does the SR stand for and what are the difference in 5mg hydrocodon to 15 mg morphine sulfate SR? Doctor took me off the hydrocodone but put me on the morphine. ## Hello, Carlos! How are you? The SR stands for sustained release, it designates the Morphine as being a time released formulation. Morphine and Hydrocodone are equivalent on a one to one ratio, so he's raised your dosage to try to help you get better control of your pain, throughout the day. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
I read an article on-line that said methylparaben and bisacodyl are ratio-morphine ingredients in Dulcolax tablets. I am mainly trying to find out if any of the ingredients in Dulcolax tablets have morphine in them. ## Hello, Verna! How are you? I think the person that wrote the article was somewhat confused, because there is no Morphine in Dulcolax. Learn more Dulcolax details here. As a matter of fact, Ratio-Morphine actually refers to the Morphine that's manufactured by a specific pharmaceutical company, Ratiopharm and this is how generics are referred to in Canada, instead of just calling them Morphine, or Oxycodone, they use the company name, so other medications may be dispensed as APO-Tramadol and etc. Bisacodyl is a distant derivative of methane, so perhaps they misunderstoo...
I cut up a blue 15 abg into four piaces and took one by mouth is that ok ## Hello, Opps! How are you? No, this is a time released 15mg Morphine tablet, so it isn't safe to cut or crush it. Doing so could cause you too get too much of the medication at once, which may result in overdose. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Can I take 2 abg at one time will over dose I take between 80 milagrams of norco a day so is it safe to take 2 abg 15 at one time
there is no writing on the capsule but the bottle it was in said morphine DSS 15 - 50 milligram morphine ## Hello, Paigey! How are you? From what you've listed, it seems you may have found a medication that was specially ordered by someone's doctor and made by a compounding pharmacy, because this isn't something that's available as a standard manufactured medication. Morphine is a narcotic analgesic and the DSS usually stands for Decussate Sodium, which is a laxative and stool softener, likely added in to counteract the constipation that the Morphine can cause as a side effect. This medication also carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause other side effects, including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth, as listed by the FDA. Is there anything else I...
watson MORPHINE 60mg orange pill stamped abg ## Doing so is NOT a smart, nor safe idea! These tablets contains fillers that ARE NOT meant to be injected into the human body,. they are not normally digested, but rather expelled in your natural waste. If you try to dissolve and inject the tablet, you are putting these fillers directly into your blood stream, creating the risk of clots and all the dangerous that are associated with them. In addition, Morphine is a very powerful narcotic and you run the risk of overdose, with potential fatal consequences. ## I recently got one of these orange ABG 60's, and having taken one of the ABG 30mgs (purple) intravenously I decided to try the same process to draw up the 60's, and it worked. {edited for safety} ## i havan 100 mg LR and 30mg im...
My husband is 71 years old, and has suffered from chronic pain for 11 years. What are the long term effects of taking morphine? ## Hello, Charlie! How are you and your husband? Morphine is a narcotic opiate, so long-term use can lead to physical dependence and if he suddenly stopped it he may experience withdrawal symptoms, which according to the FDA may include restlessness, muscle and bone pain, insomnia, diarrhea, vomiting and cold flashes. Is she showing any unusual side effects?
How many milligrams are released per hour in a 30mg morphine ER pill? ## Hi Nickie, I don't know if this will suffice as an exact answer to your question, but one manufacturer of Morphine ER (Endo Pharma) has an article stating that after 1.5 hours following administration of Morphine ER, 50% of it is absorbed. Based on this info alone, I would anticipate 10mgs out of 30mgs being released/absorbed within an hour's time. After that point however, I'm not sure what its release rate would look like over a period of 12 hours. Ref: endo.com/Library/Products/morphine_pack_insert.pdf NOTE - Just in case I misinterpreted any specific details, the information I found pertaining to this is on page 2 in the link above. I hope this helps!
is there a difference between abg 15 and ms 15 morphine tablets? ## Hello, Erika! How are you? No, they have just been manufactured by different companies. This is very common with generics, it creates market competition to help keep prices lower. The one with the ABG marking is manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals and the one with the MS M 15 on it is manufactured by Mylan Pharmaceuticals, but both contain 15mgs of Morphine in an extended release formulation. The FDA classifies this as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking antihistamines for nasal allergies the past 2 years. Is it normal or abnormal to be using them for so long. ## What has your doctor advised on this situation? There is really no cure for allergies, so when people suffer from them, they may require treatment with something regularly to prevent the problems and symptoms that arise from them. ## I have seen numerous doctors . Each time I tell them of my allergy they prescribe some medicine for immediate relief. One doctor increased my dosage. Due to situation I did continue to take the antihistamines on my own to get relief. I want to lnow if antihistamines are bad for in health longer use like 2 to 3 years. ## Can I take MORPHINE SULPHATE ER & Antihistamines together? I broke my back in 2005 & I have been on Mor...
