Is the orange coating on my 60 mg morphine part of the extended release? If I wiped it off would it become immediate release? ## I really can't tell you anything about the time release mechanism that's used, without knowing the specific tablet you are talking about. Are there any markings on it, or do you know who the manufacturer is? Then again, that may also be moot, because it is not advisable to try and change how a medication is designed to work. ## To anyone wanting to remove the extended release film on any drug, you are asking for big trouble. Do you know how many people die every year from this sort of behavior? I took 15 milligrams of Morphine on Saturday, 1/2 of it around 1:30 and the other 1/2 at 3:50 pm. I had a urine test at 1:40 pm on Tuesday. They sent the test to the lab to get the results. I drank lots of water on the days in between and the morning before the test. I consumed Heroin on Monday night and I have a drug test on Friday. Will it show up on the test? My question is will Morphine IR show up the same as MS Contin ER on a drug screen for pain management? I am prescribed both yet ran out of one of them and need both in my system. Thank you for any help on this. ## I have one MS Contin left for tonight and do not have a scheduled doctor's appointment until next week. I will have to do a urine drug screen. Hello! My name is Mark and I've had heart surgery a week and a half ago. Now, I have norco 10/325 and have been taking them for years. However, my doctors at the hospital had me stop taking norco while inpatient, and have prescribed me morphine 30 er along with tramadol 100mg. A morphine at waking and when going to sleep, and three tramadol doses between. Can I swap the tramadol for my norco? I did so today and haven't felt well. Chills, cold sweats and light fever, but those are all common with heart surgery as it's a rough battle to fight off pneumonia while your lungs heal. So... I am truly concerned about all of the people who are chronic pain sufferers who are unable to find satisfactory treatment. Several years ago, after 20 years of taking all of the usual pain meds, I stumbled across the "Spinal Chord Stimulator" and the "Morphine Pain Pump". I have had a pain pump over a year now and it has truly changed my life. I have been Oxycodone 40 mg on a year. Morphine 30 about 4 months. drugstore would only fill oxycodone so had to take morphine to different drug store ...now they have decided not to fill? Recently the doctor prescribed morphine 15mg ER which was too strong and made me so incredibly sick. I've tried everything else on the marked, but those made me "deathly ill" as well. He then changed me to 15mg Morphine IR 4 times a day, and it usually always lasts about 4 hours until the burning pain in my back returns. Yesterday I only took one tab, and was fine all day, but this morning the burning pain is back with a vengence! Will I get better constant pain relief taking 4 a day whether I feel I need them or not? I simply just need a new spine, but that isn't possible of course and trying to figure out if morphine IR is cumulative in the body, and therefore I should take the 4 a day whether I feel I need it or not. How do I avoid the horrible nausea and vomiting from my 30mg ER morphine pills prescribed to me. It is causing this on a weekend and no offices are open or available other than the ER, which this is not a real emergency. ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. Have you tried taking them with food, or milk? In many cases that can help, because they can be very rough on an empty stomach. ## How can I stop the dizziness? I can't get it to stop. I've been taking 30mg for lower back pain. ## Take it with gravol. Gravol is an antiemetic which helps deal with balance and could help with dizziness.

I was on 5 30mg of oxycodone ir after doing some reading after you have more than 120mg in your system the rest is not helping you it's just loading your system up and your asking for long term problems my dr. Has since put me on 3 30mg oxycodone and one 30mg morphine extended release for nighttime and that seems to be the magic for me, it helps the hard pain during the day and at night lets your system calm down when I'm sleeping. ## even though oxycodone is 1.5 x stronger than morphine, if you take an equivalent dose of mophine sulfate (90 m. vs. 60 oxy), will you still develop the same tolerance/addiction/dependency from the morphine as from the oxycodone? ## Great Gw! Thirty mg morphine equals how many mg oxycodone? ## i have taken both within the last couple of months… i wouldn't say they are "equivalent" or use the word "equal" per se - but in my experience, they are interchangeable, & the doctor who prescribed both of them had prescribed 30mg of oxycodone and 30mg of morphine…. and i used them at the same dose and frequency…. imo, they are pretty similar… although the morphine is more sedating than the oxycodone….. ## Hi Jerry, According to an equianalgesic (opioid) chart from Stanford, Oxycodone is said to be about 1 1/2 times more potent than Morphine on a milligram to milligram basis. HOW LONG DOES ONE 60MG EXTENDED RELEASE TABLET TAKE BEFORE IT'S RELEASED INTO YOUR SYSTEM? ## I take 15's and I find I get more pain relief if I take them early and go back to bed, then get up at 9 pretty much pain free. I take 2. 15's at 6 am and go back to sleep, I have pain relief all day, the pain starts coming back near 8 pm. ## As to how long it takes to start being released into your body to start working, it's roughly 15 to 20 minutes, or so.
