Morphine Sulfate Vs Kadian Strength?

Does anyone take Kadian? How is it? How long does it last? It is not very strong to me.

In response to the question about Kadian, I have taken it in a dosage of 12 to 20 100mg capsules per day. It is basically morphine sulfate, and the thing I do like about it is that it kills the pain more in the body as opposed to the brain, so you feel more normal. The down side is that is makes you sleepy sometimes, causes more constipation than Oxy, or Feninyl, and has a ceiling around 2 grams/day, in other words beyond that amount there is no additional relief when taking more of the med.
Overall, I have found that I can take it once a day along with 4 30mg Oxycondone IR in the morning and two to four 10mg Valiums at bed time. That way I wake up in some pain, but can go to the bathroom, and the Roxycodones 120mg total instant release taken when my alarm goes off at 4:30am then I get up at 5:00am, and feel pretty good. I go to the gym for P.T. by 5:30am, and feel as normal as I ever have. In comparison with Oxycontin and Fentinyl, I noticed a very gradual mental fatigue, I guess you could call it. I was just not as productive at work, and being a design engineer, focus and recall are critical. I was on Oxycontin for eight years the last time, and was on various other meds for the last 35+ years. I'm only 42 now, so most of my life I was on some type of chemical. If there is one piece of good information I can offer, it is a therapy that works for some conditions, and it is called prolotherapy. It is hard to find doctors that will do it outside professional sports medicine, but it entails dextrose among other agents injected into tendons or cartilage. The tendons grow just like new, and my patellar tendons are now a good 50 to 100% thicker, which has prevented dislocation of my patellas. I hear that it works great for shoulder dislocations as well. In hard facts, I went from 3 to 5 dislocations or subluxations per year to just one in the last two years, my only battle now is arthritis. My suggestion is to find a set of medications, exercises, and someone to love so you can focus on helping other people as well as your self. Once you stop, and start thinking about your situation depression can set in, and you are doomed. Depression is very hard to pull out of, the best way to avoid it is to stay busy, have plans, or constantly revise and make them. As long as you can educate yourself, your possibilities are endless. I am taking Kadian 30 mg as well as Zanaflex, a time released muscel relaxer~together they seem to work well~although, sometimes I do get a massive spasm once in a while. Better off than before the medications. Hope that helps?!?! :)

I have been on Kadian 50mg 3x a day, after getting off of 100mcg every 2 days of Fentanyl. I t works great for me, but the generic equivalent does NOT. It just doesn't touch my pain. I have been in Pain Management for over 10 years and it has taken a long time to find something that doesn't over medicate me, yet helps a lot with the pain. So if the dose you are on isn't helping talk to your pain doc, you may need a dosage increase. Good Luck.

I took this for two months and worked ok. It is very expensive compared to morphine sulfate and the only difference is the way that it is metabulized in your body. There is a discount card for this drug. Just go to Kadian.com and I believe it is save $50 toward your rx.
