Morphine Sleepiness

I have been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease in my neck, severe end stage arthritis in my right elbow and chronic ulner nerve pain in my right hand, I am on 240 mg of morphine and 2700mg of gabapentin a day, my problem is the sleepiness It causes me, I can hardly function on these meds which also cause me to sweat profusely causing me to change my clothes 2 or more times a day, what can I do to reduce the drowsiness?

Unfortunately, there really isn't much that can be done about either side effect, other than perhaps switching to a different medication.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

It's likely also compounded with the high dose you're taking of the Gabapentin.

Have you ever tried Oxycodone? Sometimes it doesn't make people as drowsy as Morphine does.
