Morphine Withdrawal Expected
UpdatedI have been taking 2 each Morphine Sulfate 30 mg ER Tabs and 4 each Morphine Sulfate IMM REL 15 MG Tabs each day for about 3 weeks. I will run out a week before going back to my PM Doctor. What kind of withdrawals can I expect to experience? Also, What is the maximum daily allowable per the law? I wish to get about 3 or 4 Morphine Sulfate 30 mg ER Tabs when I see the PM Doctor. That would be 90 MG to 120 MG per day. Do they have 40 MG ER Tabs (3 X 40 = 120 MG)? Do they have 60 MG ER Tabs (2 X 60 = 120 MG)? How would I need to behave if I wish to show the PM Doctor the symptoms required to justify this dosage? Is this an unreasonable request? I have Chronic Lower and Middle back Pain.

Hello, Yogi! How are you?
I'm sorry, but under the new regulations, you'll only be able to be prescribed 2 of the ER tablets daily, that is the max. However yes, your doctor could raise your dosage, if the current one isn't handling your pain.
Withdrawal symptoms may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, body aches and diarrhea.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
There are a myriad of possible doages and/or different medications top handle your pain. And you are NOT limited to two ER tabs daily. It depends entirely on your pain cause and pain level, your personal medical history, your PM physicians views, etc. I personally take about a 500mg morphine equivalent per day for combat wounds. Discuss it with your PM physician. Good luck.
P.S. I still have quite a bit of pain every day. But it doesn't interfere with my living my life. And due to finding the correct medication for me I have no "buzz" or "high" whatsoever. It's important to be open and honest with your PM Physician and to realize that you'll never be entirely pain free.
Also, I can't tell you what to expect regarding withdrawal. It depends how long you've been on the medications as well as other factors. It could be of no or little concern or it could be very much an awful week for you. However, I can tell you that if you run out of medication that early then your UA will be morphine free when it should not be. And your PM Physician will certainly want to know why. It could be a significant problem for you. Narcotics remain in the urine (detectable) for an average of 72 hours.
I do not know if your doctor had you sign a pain contract but 99% tell you not take more then prescribed. Bing short 1 pill is one thing being short a week could mean that your doctor my list you as being compliant will no longer give you any more opiate medication. Today many medical doctors require that new patients sign a release to get your records from directly from the doctor office or hospital instead of you just handed them over. Basically there no way for you to change anything negative that maybe in your medical records. Today finding a doctor who will prescribe pain medication to someone who has chronic pain is not easy even with records and scans to back you up. Having the doctor the write the words that the patient has not been compliant and taking more medication then prescribe will mean it could a very long time before another doctor will prescribe the medication. If I was you I would start praying that she does not order a drug panel and I would not tell her you needs more meds because you ran out a week only.
I want off of morphine sulfate 60mg (twice a day) but don't want to be sick. I can't afford meds and I don't want to take these. Please tell me how long I will be sick?
I've been taking morphine sulfate er 100mg, 2 times a day for 4 years. I'm currently in a position where I cant get my prescription filled for 5 days and don't know what to do or how my body will respond to being without it? Please advise.
