I am sure i am not the only patient being treated for chronic pain, and have been for 14 plus years, i have been on many different meds over the years, now morphene sulphate er, i was on 100mg x 3 a day, now with the new cdc guidelines i am being cut back, or eventually cut off of all pain meds. What are the cdc plans as far as patients like myself once opiate pain meds are no longer being given to me or others for treament?? I have done pt, injections, tens units, nerve meds, anti depressants, ect....none of these alternatives worked in the past, so what does the future hold, beides a poor quality of life if i am forced to live with chronic pain, i can say honestly, life was not fun before my doctors got a grasp on what worked for my pain and i dread feeling like i did before......any help would be appreciated.

The new DEA guidelines don't require doctor's to cut someone completely off, they just recommend that someone not be prescribed more than the equivalent of 120mgs of Morphine per day, some states have lowered it even further to no more than the equivalent of 100mgs of Morphine per day.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

Exceptions are granted for those with possibly terminal conditions that can cause intractable pain, such as stage 4 cancer.

What changes are your doctors planning on making?
