Montelukast (kastair) And Rifampicin Drug Interactions

I have allergic rhinitis and would like to know whether or not it's safe to take Montelukast, even though I am taking Rifampicin now? Thanks.

From what I can find, they can be used together, but the antibiotic Rifampicin can reduce the effectiveness of the Montelukast, by making it clear out of your body faster than normal. This means it may not help you as long or as much as it would, if you weren't taking the antibiotic, but it is not dangerous.

You should check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain, though.
