Missed Pills, Early Period When To Star New Pack

Okay so basically I was about a week into my tri-sprintec pill when I had to get a new packet, but I couldnt get it for 6 days (long story), I started having fairly heavy bleeding about 3 days after missing pills, heavier than I usually have at the start of my period and have been bleeding 3 days now, I am unsure if I should take the new packet now or wait to let this "period" play out? Also (so sorry for the long post) before this happened I was going to be done with my regular period the week before leaving on a vacation now I will start the day before, which I desperately do not want! Is there anyway I can do this so my next period will be moved? Preferably to where it was suppose to be before? Or skip it without worrying about BTB? Today is 10/3 and is my 3rd day of bleeding we are leaving for our vacation on 10/29. Thank you.

Hello, Heathurr! I'm sorry I didn't see your post sooner. What did you end up doing?

The general rule is that if you only missed one or two days, you should start taking your pills as usual, doubling up for the next day, or two, and you should use a backup method of contraception until you have been taking it, again, for a full 7 days, without missing any tablets. If you have missed more than that, you are usually instructed to start an entirely new pack, following the same procedure for using back up protection.

However, this may vary, so you should always follow the instructions given with the pill pack, or as provided by your doctor.

Ref: Medline Plus Oral Contraceptives

Unless your doctor instructs otherwise, it is usually safe for most women to continuously take active tablets to skip their periods, when having one would be inconvenient.
