Missed A Dose, Terrible Sleep Paralysis With Hallucinations

I only missed my dose by a few hours. I lied down to go to bed and it was like I was tripping on hallucinogens. Everything I saw in this dream-like state was in a honeycomb type pattern and at one point I thought I was turning into a spider, at another I thought the covers were suffocating me and I was fighting to get them off and screaming for my husband to help me, but in reality I was just dreaming but could not wake up. When I finally did get up I called the pharmacist and told her what happened and asked if I could just stop taking the meds. She said it was dangerous to just stop and that I should talk to my doc about tapering down. I have never had an antidepressant do that to me before. It was really scary and I don't want to take a pill that will have this affect from one missed dose.

There is another discussion on sleep paralysis on this site. Just go to the top and click on the Vibryd forums and you will see it. Lots of Info. I have experienced this all my life and the Viibryd did make it worse, but stopped after a while....take a look....

I am very sorry that you had such an awful experience, but of course the most important thing to remember is that while it was nerve wracking, it was just a dream and none of it was actually real. Such dreams can occur with virtually any medication that has an effect on brain chemicals, as well as alcohol, or even just from severe indigestion.

And the pharmacist is correct, it isn't wise to stop these types of medications abruptly, it is best to do so on a slowly tapered schedule, which your doctor can help you with.
