Ive am a recent user of Mirtezepine and have only been on them 5wks.
They have made me sleep up to 12hrs a day for the 1st 2wks,e to take a Diazepan to kick my sleep in . They did calm me down within 1hr of taking them as I was having thoughts of impending doom , death & suicidal thoughts all the time .I have a job getting up and only do when I feel ready to , which could be anytime.
After reading all the things about them I am reluctant to carry on taking them and will have to discuss this with my Dr when I see her next.
Does anyone know what category of antidepressants they come into ..

Mirtazapine is a tetracyclic antidepressant and yes, the drowsiness and fatigue can be normal side effects, however, they should wear off after 4 to 6 weeks, once your body adjusts to the medication.

However, if they are too problematic, you may need to switch medications and there are several other classes you can try.

You can read about them here, so you will know what to discuss with your doctor.
