Miralax Not Working

Today is my 5th day taking 17g a day and so far it hasn't worked. Is this normal? Should I continue to take it?

No, it should have worked by now.

Are you on any other medications? Do you suffer chronic constipation?

Have you informed your doctor?

What other stool softeners or laxatives have you tried?

The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, stomach cramps, and diarrhea.

On the 6 day now I have the runs. I stopped taking it. I do have hypothyroid I'm on thyroid meds. When I stop for two days I couldn't go again and as soon as I tried it again I got the runs again, I haven't tried anything else.

I have been on Mirilax for several years. I has never worked good and I have been told to take it 3 times a day. It gives me gas on the left side. It does make the stool very soft but the push is gone and usually it requires 1 to 2 suppositories taken at once to make it move more. I fear it has either shrunk the opening or the muscles have quit working. There must be some other medicine to help. Does an enlarged prostrate factor in?
