I was wondering if you guys know how much Micardis 40 alone lowers your bloodpressure from baseline? ## Hi SHERRIE, Since medications effect everyone differently, it will be hard to know exactly how Micardis 40 will work for you. Here is a link to a Micardis 40 thread that you can post in, maybe someone who has had experience with this medication will be of more help. Discuss/Micardis-40-mg-194179.htm Have you attempted to make any changes to your diet/lifestyle for the sake of your blood pressure? My boyfriend dealt with high blood pressure for years but was able to lower it by controlling his eating habits and exercising. He started to eat a diet with lower sodium foods (replaced table salt with pink himalayan sea salt) to help reduce inflammation and water retention and added in a he...

Hi,i was taking Metroprolol(20 mg.)for over 13 years and 3 specialists wanted me to switch to Nifidipine(30 mg.) because of Raynauds.I immidately experienced higher blood pressure and increased pulse rate and have had these higher numbers for about a month. My dr.also increased Lisinopril(20 mg.) to 25 mg.The increase also made my nagging cough worse, keping me awake many nites. My dr.has now replaced Lisinopril with Micardis(20 mg.)My dr.does not seem overly concerned about my incresed BP&pulse rate;yesterday my numbers were 138/87,101.I am 63,female,weigh 135 lbs,5'5",have no family history of heart disease.I am not as active as ii have been in past years because i have osteoarthritis in my shoulders, neck, back, hips, knees and feet and i was taken off of all pain meds/muscle re...

high blood presure ## My new cardiologist has prescribed Micardis HCT to replace Triam HCTZ. My blood pressure has always been fine using Triam HCTZ and Atenolol. This new drug costs more ansd seems to list a lot of side effects. I'd like to know what experience others have had with Micardis HCT. Thanks ## Joanne, if you are happy with what your doctor was taking, then just tell them that you would rather not switch. In most cases, they are prescribing something new because some drug rep from the company bopped into their office and talked them into it. They got free samples, free gifts, free pens, whatever. It really doesn't matter that a newer med is really a great unkown, the drug reps tell them it is great, so they start writing scrips for it. ## Thank you. This same cardiol...

I have been taking Thyroxine for about 2 weeks now. I am also on Micardis, Atenolol and Apo-Nifedipine for my blood pressure, which was 227/124. This all happened when all I had gone to the doctors for was a sore left wrist! My problem is, not only is my left wrist still sore, but now my right, my dominant hand is painful, especially at night and in the mornings. I am 51 and still have 7 of my 12 children living at home. I really need the use of my hands!! Currently even taking care of my own personal hygiene is difficult and painful due to my painful wrists. Any suggestions what could be causing it? Also my doctor said I had Graves disease, yet I am on Thyroxine. On the Internet it says Thyroxine is for Hypothyroidism yet Graves is HypERthyroidism. So I'm confused?? I would be so g...

I'm looking it up for my Mother. I don't think she knows why she's on it. ## The correct name is Micardis HCT, that will help you find information on it. This is a drug used to treat hypertension, so it is used to help lower high blood pressure.
