I take Ergotamine for headaches. I get my meds thru Medco. My insurance pays most of the cost for generics. Last time Medco said they didn't have Ergotamine in stock (first time that has ever happened over the years.) They said they would need to send me Cafergot, the brand name. It costs me 10 times more.
I need to know why I can not get Ergotamine.??

Same problem with caffergot or its generic ergotan/caff.
Wally World used to charge $5 for a generic. Now they say they cannot get a generic. The real caffergot cost $300.

Unfortunately, shortages sometimes happen, or a manufacture discontinues a medication, and while it is problematic, there's really nothing we can do about it.
