Metronidazole 200mg Tabs For Dental Abscess - So Ill

Hi I had a week of amoxycillin which didn't work on the abscess located deep under the root. Was then prescribed 5 days of Metronidazole which I started yesterday. My whole neck and chest had broken out in a rash which bleeds in places and I had such severe diahorrea yesterday evening that I nearly passed out with the tummy pain. This morning I passed a tiny tiny piece of BM followed by a large mucous piece of tissue/blood which I have never experienced in my life. Should I ask for a replacement antibiotic to treat the bacterial abscess or persevere with this treatment. My whole chin is also very red, with the jaw line sore to touch so it's obviously a very deep rooted serious infection. I think I should phone the dentist after the weekend to tell them of my reaction to see if there's an alternative treatment?

Yes, I agree with you. It doesn't seem that you and the Metronidazole are right for each other.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea and stomach pain.
