How are you? Yes, it could be due to the Metoprolol, most of the blood pressure/cardiac medications can cause ER, along with nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. However, no he can't just stop it, cold turkey. Doing so could cause a rebound effect that may put his life in danger. He will need to see his doctor to replace it with a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I too getting ED since day one I started on this medication. How can I recover from this problem? ## Hello, Ajay! I'm very sorry that you're having a similar...
Need to know what this pill is for sure ## Hello, Megan! How are you? The only listing I can find in the prescription drug databases for a tablet is a round, pink one with M over 32 on one side and a score line on the other. It is listed as containing 50mgs of Metoprolol. The FDA classifies this medication as a beta blocker that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, dry cough and hypotension. Is it possible that your pill is pink?
I was taking metoprolol 25 and last time it was a new script it is metoprol 25. Pills are different shapes. However after two weeks I have began having a lot of swelling. ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. However, I really can't tell you anything about them from what you've included in your post. In theory they should be the same, but I can't really say without knowing more information. What are the markings on them? That is what would enable me to double check them for you. Metoprolol is a beta blocker that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, increased urination and low blood pr...
Believe this is Mylan Metropolol succinate ER 25 mg. Was this part of the recalled Mylan Metropolol succinate ER that was recalled? ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? Yes, this is listed in the databases as containing 25mgs of Metoprolol in an extended release formulation. According to the FDA, this medication is a beta blocker that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Possible side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, hypotension, stomach pain and increased urination. As to whether or not it was part of a recall, there's no way to be sure, without knowing how old the tablet is, or what lot it came from. Do you still have the pharmacy bottle? If so, that should enable your pharmacy to check for you. Are there any other quest...
My pressure is usually around 110/70 if I take this what will it make my pressure drop to. I just had a coronary artery bypass graft almost a month ago. But my pressure has dropped to almost 70 and I was very light headed. I dont want another episode like that. ## Hello, Amanda! How are you? According to the FDA information, Metoprolol is a beta blocker that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and increased urination. Unfortunately, there is no set number I can quote you for how much it will lower your blood pressure, that can vary from person to person. It doesn't work, at all, for some people and for others, it can work too well. The only thing you can really d...
I just was put on ramipril yesterday after taking metropolol for 3 years because of diarrhea ,seems I'm having side effects today .dizzy , fast pulse is this normal . ## Hazel your doctor just said take this instead of Metropolol? I am weaning off of the (M) and I would def. call the doctor ..if you don't feel right. but yes it is quite normal for that to happen but I would think one has to be weaned off.. are those two drugs the same in nature? you could try some black strap molasses to slow heart rate down.. Magnesium, organic apple cidar vinegar, maybe some celtic sea salt.. if you can use these ... ## metropolol is a beta blocker and ramipril is a Ace Inhibitor there both for hypertension .As the day goes on I'm starting to feel better , thank you for replying . ## Hi; Y...
I was put on 50 mg of Metoprolol and after the first day I was slightly being dizzy. It is making it somewhat difficult to drive. So I didn't take the drug. Now I have a racing heart! Its damn if I do damn if I don't. Sorry I had a heart attack and I am just as sorry I can't tollerate these drugs. I want to make the doctor happy but how can I? I've also started dealing with phobias that I never had before. I ma really concerned that the medications will keep me from driving and enjoying my freedom. (Actually my phobias got worse today!) All after only taking this drug one time! ## Hello, Keith! How are you doing? I'm sorry about your health and the problems you've had. There are other medications you can try, it's really just a matter of working with your doc...
I want to stop taking metoprolol ext rel 100 mg. after taking this my legs feel very heavy and stuff joints , can hardly walk. Also very dry mouth, headaches and light tingling of fingers. I am taking this for high blood pressure. How do I get off of this? ## Hello, Linda! How are you? Metoprolol is a beta blocker and it can cause those types of side effects in some people that take it, along with nausea, dizziness, hypotension, hair loss and stomach pain. However, when taking something for high blood pressure, it is very important to not just stop taking it, without replacing it with another medication. If you stop abruptly, it may cause rebound effects, which could include elevated heart rate and blood pressure that could lead to heart attack or stroke. Thus, the best thing to do woul...

My daughter has a pacemaker due to electrical problems with her heart from the Mustard Procedure for Transposition of the Great Arteries. She is 24 and has had the PaceMaker fo 2 years. Within the last few months she had 1 life threatening low heart rate. Will metoprolol success er help prevent the low rate. If she continues to have low rate may need to put in a defribilator. ## Hello, Clide! How are you and your daughter? It's actually succinate, not success, but anyway, it could actually cause her heart rate to go low, so it's kind of iffy. These beta blockers can sometimes cause low heart rate as a side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. Has it been prescribed for her? She might do better with something that just helps with overall heart function...
Metoprolol lowers pulse to much for my comfort level. Pulse runs sometimes in low 50's and once in a while into 40's p/m. This actually causes anxiety. If I don't take it I feel slight angina pectorus. I am taking 25 mg 2 times daily (extended release) ## @wbmjr, According to the US National Library of Medicine, Metoprolol is reported to be in a class of medications known as beta blockers. This type of medication works by relaxing the blood vessels and slowing your heart rate to improve blood flow & decrease blood pressure. Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a682864.html So as far as alternatives are concerned, it sounds to me like you may need to ask your doctor about looking into a different class of drugs altogether (such as ACE inhibitors or Diuretics) in ord...
Took metoprolol tartrate 50mg last night and woke up 4 hours later with bp 145/107 went back to sleep woke up 151/98. What to do? ## Hello, Lucy! How are you? My first question is how long have you been taking it? This medication will take about a month to reach its full level of efficacy in your body, so you're not going to see an immediate improvement in your blood pressure. My second question is why are you checking it when you wake up in the middle of the night? As I said, these medications don't work immediately, it will take a few weeks to see improvement, if it works for you. Obsessively checking, whenever you have trouble sleeping or what have you is only going to worry you needlessly. You should only check it as often as your doctor has instructed and make sure to take ...
My mom experienced some of the same effects for a long time, even blacked out, light headedness, ect. After she got very ill this past Christmas and was on life support.. I found out that mixed with her other meds, it was dropping her blood pressure very low.. ## Hi Jenny, sorry to hear about the terrible side effects your mom was facing. I think it's a shame that doctors can get away with prescribing multiple drugs without having done any prior research on possible interactions first. Some of these medications can really do a number on you on their own, let alone when mixed together! I hope she's managed to recover from such a traumatic experience. Do you know what other medications she might've been taking at the time along with Metoprolol? This drug is prescribed to lower...
I'm having a Cath done & was told to quit blood thinners 2 days before ## Hello, Danny! How are you? No, Metoprolol is a beta blocker, it would be best to double check with your doctor, but as far as I know, there shouldn't be a problem taking it. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. Is there anything else I can help with?

What side effects are you having? Its most common ones include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. There are other medications you can try and your doctor should be able to prescribe an alternative. However, most side effects do wear off, after about 4 weeks or so, once your body gets used to the medication. How long have you been taking it? ## hello and thank you for responding i have been taking lopressor for two weeks thanks for the feedback i will try a little longer taking it.
Is this the same as the metoprolol that's the white pill? Just renewed script and got pink pills with different number imprinted on it, from what I had before. ## What are the markings on the tablets in question? Can you please double check and post back? That is what would enable me to check for you. Thanks! Metoprolol is a beta blocker that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and hypotension.
I'm sixty five have been on Metoprolol tart 25 mg Myl twice a day ,every now and then I get light headed and feel unblanced. ## Welcome to our forums and you've come to the right place, because I had quite a few adventures with that medication myself! Metoprolol is a beta blocker that is used to help treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. As to the occasional dizziness, yes, it can cause this as a side effect, which is more than likely due to orthostatic hypotension. Is it happening when you move suddenly? If so, then this is probably the cause, it has been known to cause this in some people. If it's putting you in danger of falling or anything, then you should contact your doctor, as you may need to switch to a different medication. Another factor that co...
My mother has been taking metoprolol tartrate for 2 years. Six to eight weeks ago she started experiencing hallucinations(seeing things that are not real,) at night after taking the pill. She called her doctor but the doctor told her to break the pill in half, which is going from 50 to 25 mgs. I am afraid she will have an episode while driving. Is there another medication equilvalent to what she is taking. Should the doctor have taken her off of the medicine. ## Hello, Barbara! How is your mother doing? Hallucinating is not a typical side effect of this medication and has only been reported in a few rare cases where someone was taking the extended release formulation. There are other medication options, such as Labetalol, which is known to cause far fewer side effects. Has she contacted...
My pulse rate is 60 at night I am afraid it is going to drop too low. Is this possible ? Is 60 too low ? My BP is is still normal high I take lisinapril 10 mg and I take a half of metoprolol 25 mg so wondering info should worry about my pulse being low ## My Pulse has been as low as 41 during the day and I assume even lower at night. Cardio didn't really care. ## Hello, Kari! How are you doing? 60 is still considered normal and generally, your pulse will go lower at night, due to the fact that you are resting and not being as active. You should double check with your doctor, but usually, if you aren't having any symptoms, such as dizziness and shortness of breath, it is nothing to worry about. Rod, what were the circumstances? Those details have to be taken under consideration.
