Metoprolol Succ Er Is It A Beta Blocker

hello I need to know if this RX that I am on is considered under the "beta blocker" catagory or not? As I was on another form of blood pressure med that was under the beta blocker form. Can you let me know asap.

Yes, Metoprolol is definitely in the Beta Blocker drug class, it is considered a selective Beta Blocker.

What problems are you having with it?

Some people are very sensitive to these medications and can suffer severe side effects from them, such as: nausea, dizziness, headache and abdominal pain.

I was on it for a short while and had to stop taking it and switch to something else, due to the severe problems it caused me.

If you are looking for an alternative to control your blood pressure, that doesn't cause the same severe side effects, you may want to ask your doctor about trying Carvedilol. After proving to be severely sensitive to a lot of blood pressure medications, I have been on it for several months, now and have had no problems.
